Get hands-on experience, build valuable skills, and explore new career possibilities!

CAPLP is partnering with Minnesota State Community and Technical College - M State to offer Industrial Maintenance & Forklift Training!

November 2nd – 6th , 2026

This five-day training will introduce participants to essential mechanical skills, equipment operation, maintenance, and workforce readiness to help prepare them for opportunities in the manufacturing industry.

A big thank you to Growing Together Community Gardens for donating an incredible 1,120 pounds of fresh produce to our Hawley food pantry this summer!

From tomatoes and cucumbers to squash, potatoes, carrots, and more, these donations helped provide fresh, nutritious food to individuals and families in our community.

We are so grateful to Growing Together and dedicated volunteers like Randy, pictured here, who helped deliver this produce throughout the summer.

October is Head Start Awareness Month! Throughout the month, we’re highlighting some of the many ways our Head Start and Early Head Start programs support children and families.

One of those ways is through Early Head Start group socials!

Group socials give families an opportunity to come together, connect with one another, and enjoy activities that support learning and healthy development.

At a few recent group socials, families explored sensory activities, played with playdough, read books, spent time together in the gym, and learned more about Conscious Discipline and ways to support their child’s social-emotional development.

These gatherings are about more than having fun. They give families a chance to learn alongside their children, build relationships with other families and Early Head Start staff, and practice skills they can continue using at home.

It’s just one of the many ways Early Head Start partners with families during some of the most important years of a child’s development.

Introducing our Keep Care Moving campaign!

Family child care providers are there for families every day. But when a provider needs time away, finding someone qualified to step in isn’t always easy. Without a substitute, that can mean closing for the day and leaving families without care.

CAPLP’s Child Care Connections team launched the Family Child Care Substitute Program as a pilot in Becker County in 2023 with just 13 enrolled providers. Today, the program has grown to serve 55 providers across Becker, Clay, Douglas, Hubbard, and Otter Tail counties, with additional providers continuing to express interest.

That growth has made one thing clear: this is a needed service. Demand for substitute coverage continues to outpace our current capacity.

When child care stays open, the impact reaches far beyond one provider. Families have reliable care. Parents can go to work. Employers experience fewer disruptions. And communities retain essential child care capacity.

Through our new Keep Care Moving campaign, your gift can help provide more substitute coverage, support local child care providers, and keep reliable care available for working families.

439 pounds of food for our Hawley food pantry!

A huge thank you to Muscatell-Burns Ford and the Hawley community for another incredible year of giving through the annual Ford Food Drive.

Each year, the dealership invites customers and community members to donate items, which are then given to our pantry to help support local individuals and families. This year, those donations added up to an amazing 439 pounds!

We are so grateful to Muscatell-Burns Ford for continuing this tradition and to every customer and community member who contributed. Your generosity makes a meaningful difference for so many.
