I knew when I took on two elderly kitties whose owner had passed away( Ding -15 y/o, and Salem -20 y/o), that I may not have them long. Salem came to me already having non-regenerative anemia. But her bloodwork couldn’t find the cause. Due to her age, we opted to not put her through scopes and biopsies and just filled her days with love. She started losing control of her bladder on Sunday and yesterday she became extremely lethargic and I knew it was time. Autopsy revealed that her liver was covered with masses/lesions.

I always joked about how Salem would just stand there with this look like “ok Jesus, I’m ready. I’ve seen all there is to see”. She loved her churro treats and being brushed and getting chin scratches. She’d get annoyed (but tolerated) her brother who couldn’t stand when it was her turn for attention. She hated her feet cleaned, but never did more than just a growl about it. She was the sweetest and most gentle soul. I’m blessed to have been able to show her love and attention for the past couple of months. ❤️

UPDATES:

Fatboy Squishy did well with his surgery and is home acting like nothing happened (which is great since he was having NO part of the cone of shame 🤣). Now to wait for the biopsy results to come back which should take a week. 🤞🤞 for good news that has the word benign in it.

Fang Shui got his biopsy back, and thankfully his issues are not cancer related (thank goodness). The steroid and antibiotic shot have improved his condition. I just have him separated from the others while he recovers.

Please keep Fatboy Squishy in your prayers this morning. I noticed an odd lump on his chin yesterday morning, and I took him to the vet yesterday evening. They were so concerned about the way it looked under the microscope that he is having surgery first thing this morning to remove it. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

If you know me, you know that Fatboy is basically my firstborn child. He sleeps with me every night and keeps everyone in the house in check.

Losing him would be as devastating as losing Grumpy. Everyone of these cats has a part of my soul but there are some that are more closely bonded with me than others.

I cry just at the thought of losing him.

The last photo is pretty much the average amount of deer in my yard on the regular. I have 4 babies, two 6pt bucks, some younger bucks and plenty of doe. Plus a few possums, at least one raccoon, and three skunks that I’m aware of 🤣🤣

Anyone else have spoiled rotten babies who won’t eat their meds out of a bowl, but will eat it off your finger? Or am I the only one?!?
I have three little divas who turn up their nose at the bowl, but if I stick my finger in it and hand feed it, they’re all in 🤣🤣
