Paul Roderique, a certified Spiritual Director through the Franciscan University's School of Spiritual Direction, will present What Is True Love? The Nature of Divine Love on Saturday, August 22, from 9:30 to 3:30 in Resurrection's Morrow Hall.

What is true love? We all love and want to be loved. Love is essential to life. Even agnostics agree on this. But we get conflicting messages from the world on what exactly love is or should be like.

Love is a gift of God from God. St. John in his first letter assures us of this fact. He writes: Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. ...God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them. (1 John 4:7-7, 16b)

But have you ever wondered what exactly this means? Over the course of this one day retreat, participants will examine key aspects of true love: how it elevates every form of love and makes us better individuals, better in and at relationships, and better at responding to suffering and sinfulness.

Each session will include an introduction to the concept, time for personal reflection, and small group discussion.

Please join us on Saturday, August 22, from 9:30 to 3:30. Refreshments and food will be provided. There is no charge, but registration is necessary.
