My Joyful Heart is a unique charity that provides personalized assistance and encouragement for Chicago area and suburban children in need. As a faith-based organization, we endeavor to be a positive influence to these children in need by remembering them with basic life essentials, school supplies, clothing, toys and encouragement throughout each year until their situation improves or they move from the area. My Joyful Heart provides the little things that may often be missing in the life of a child in need. By providing these gift packages regularly throughout the year we extend love and hope to these children, making them feel special and letting them know that people do care. Local, disadvantaged, high-risk children are given gift packages of essentials throughout the year, not just at Christmas. We are not a one-size-fits-all organization – gifts are specifically selected for each individual child. My Joyful Heart works in tandem with the Chicago Public Schools and other school districts to enroll needy children; the children who are coming to school without a jacket in the winter, the children who do not have proper shoes or clothing that fits, the children in need of hygiene and especially the children in need of encouragement and hope. We work closely with the school systems to ensure gifts are given to the children in our program and that he/she knows that someone cares. All this is made possible through sponsorships, donations, grants, fundraising and corporate support. My Joyful Heart continually strives to help local children as best we can.

About a year and a half ago we noticed that more and more of the families we serve have been asking for something basic that we do not traditionally provide: laundry detergent, cleaning products, and everyday household supplies. These are the things that are often the first to get cut when money is tight.

We reached out looking for donations and we're so grateful to Sheets Laundry Club. They stepped up to send us laundry detergent every quarter for the past year, and the difference has been real to our familes. Because of their generosity, families can wash their clothes and take one worry off a long list.

Thank you, Sheets Laundry Club for meeting a real need for our community, our organization, and from this thank you note from one of our littles, you can tell how grateful one can be when a business cares.

Thank you to Providence Catholic High School - Charlie Celtic for blessing the children with your annual school supply drive. We enjoyed getting the know the girls as they served with us this summer and grateful for the families who generously donated supplies. We serve over 1,000 children each year with the basics. A new pencil case, supplies, or book bag can go a long way to starting the year off on a positive note, enabling a child to have more confidence in the classroom. Thank you!

Thank you State Representative Patrick Sheehan for blessing the children of My Joyful Heart! We are incredibly grateful for the school supplies AND the time you took to get to know who we are and how we serve.

My Joyful Heart is one of two local charities Rep. Sheehan’s Office partnered with for our school supply drive. They are a nonprofit that provides basic life essentials to disadvantaged children throughout the SW suburbs. Team Sheehan toured the facility and met the amazing staff and volunteers. So proud to have My Joyful Heart doing such valuable work for families in the 37th District.

Thank you to everyone for their generosity, including Sport Clips Haircuts of Romeoville for their donation of 100 haircuts for students to look their best this school year!
