This is what it’s all about!

Thanks to your support, Mishawaka Professional Firefighters Local 360 raised $3,000 through our breast cancer shirt sales, allowing us to give $1,500 each to Rachel Preston and Victoria Mathews.

Thank You to everyone who purchased a shirt, donated, or helped spread the word. Your generosity made it possible to support two members of our community when it matters most.

This year we also started a new tradition, our recipients will have the opportunity to sign our Local 360 pink helmet, which will be on display at Station 82. Each signature will serve as a lasting reminder of the people behind this cause and the community standing beside them.

Rachel and Victoria, your Local 360 family is behind you.

Specialty trained fire fighters from multiple PFFUI First District Locals rescue a man trapped 10 feet below ground in trench on Thursday.

Crews from Penn Twp Professional Fire Fighters Local 5019 responded to find the man trapped from the knees down by soil. Due to the depth and complexity of the rescue, the MABAS 201 - Indiana District 2 US&R/Technical Rescue was activated, bringing additional personnel, specialized equipment, and technical rescue resources to the scene.

The response included members from Clay Firefighters, IAFF Local 1630, Elkhart Firefighters Local 338, Mishawaka Fire IAFF Local 360, South Bend Firefighters Local 362, and Warsaw Professional Firefighters Local 5461.

Working together, crews stabilized the area and safely freed the man. He was successfully removed from the trench and transported to the hospital for further evaluation and care.

Exceptional job by all of our First District members on the scene. Trench rescue requires specialized training, equipment and coordination to safely stabilize collapsed trenches, reach trapped individuals and bring them to safety. This rescue is another example of Indiana fire fighters putting those skills to work when their communities need them.
