Families Recover Together

Families Recover Together We are family peer recovery coaches. From our own experience and education, we walk alongside families with loved ones struggling with addictions.

Jill DiLoreto, Sheree Stilwell I believe in the inherent strengths, resilience, and love of families--however they are formed. I believe it is important to be vulnerable and share with others what we have learned. When we help others and treat them in a loving manner, we invite them to change and be their best selves. My faith encourages me to love all others. I love to see people grow into who th

ey are meant to be. I love to assist family members with loved ones who use substances, have mental wellness concerns, or struggle with other life experiences to learn when they change, their loved one will change. I am a joy giver and hope giver.

Our conversations with our loved ones don’t always go the way we hope.

On June 4, let’s troubleshoot common issues, discuss how we might allow natural consequences, and set limits that are right for us.

Our group is for families with loved ones in addiction or recovery.

We meet weekly on Thursdays from 5 – 6:30 pm PT, 6 – 7:30 pm MT, 7 - 8:30 pm CT, and 8 – 9:30 pm ET.

Reinforcing constructive behaviors helps us sustain our motivation to change. It impacts our motivation because, as we experience the positive benefits of a new behavior, it becomes rewarding in and of itself.

Reinforcement also gives us permission to stay connected and deliver positive messages to others. It can be as simple as saying, “Thank you for…”

In addition, each person’s needs in a relationship are important. When we want to ask someone to do something, we could SURF (Specific, Understanding, Partial Responsibility, Feelings) a Request.

On May 28, we will be discussing reinforcements, rewards, and asking for what we need in a relationship.

On May 21, 2026, we will continue to discuss chapter 9, "How Your Behavior Shapes Theirs,” in The Beyond Addiction Workbook. The chapter will be sent to anyone who registers. The workbook can be purchased at cmcffc.org or Amazon.

When we recognize and reward positive change, it invites it to happen more often.

When we also allow natural consequences to occur and set respectful limits, they discourage negative behavior.

How and when might we invite our loved ones, and ourselves, to get the help we need? Let's consider the stages of change and what we might do and say that will be validating, give agency, and accept where we are.

On April 23, 2026, we will continue our discussion on how to Invite Your Loved One to Get Help.

When we apply our understanding, awareness, and communication skills to invite our loved ones to get the help that makes sense to them, they are more likely to accept it.

Our group for families whose loved ones struggle with addiction meets weekly on Thursdays from 5 – 6:30 pm PT, 6 – 7:30 pm MT, 7 - 8:30 pm CT, and 8 – 9:30 pm ET.
