SEMI Foundation

SEMI Foundation The SEMI Foundation is committed to growing the microelectronics industry by creating pathways and opportunities for job seekers.

The SEMI Foundation is dedicated to workforce development and innovation in the microelectronics industry. We fill talent deficits by offering programs that allow workers to cultivate the skills necessary to thrive in related careers. We focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion in order to welcome diverse populations into the industry. In turn, this improves workers’ companies, communities, and lives.

On Monday, we joined leaders from the U.S. and Taiwan at the Freedom 250 Workforce First Summit hosted by the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) and coordinated with the U.S. Department of Commerce and National Science Foundation (NSF).

The summit marked an important step forward in semiconductor talent development, including the Taiwan-U.S. Training Agreement to expand hands-on training opportunities for American students in Taiwan.

We're proud to be part of this important conversation and help advance the workforce needed for the future of the semiconductor industry!

📸What does a future in microelectronics look like? The SEMI Foundation recently joined students at Rio Salado College for the opening-day orientation of its Microelectronics and Nanomanufacturing Certificate Program!

As participants begin their 12-week journey, we helped connect their training to the bigger picture: the semiconductor industry, the careers available to them, and the opportunities ahead. Excited to see where this next generation of talent goes!

🎓 Congratulations to the newest graduates of Foothill College 's Semiconductor Process Technician Registered Apprenticeship Program!

Over the past 18 months, these apprentices combined hands on learning with industry employers and classroom instruction, earning certificates from Foothill College , U.S. Department of Labor , and the California Department of Apprenticeship Standards.

A special shout out to Nokia , WD , and Applied Materials for building the next generation of talent!

We're always looking for more employer partners in the San Francisco Bay Area and nationwide. Learn more here https://semifoundation.org/department-of-labor-group-sponsorship/

Thank you California Business Journal for highlighting the work of the SEMI Foundation! California has always been a place where innovation thrives, and we're seeing that same spirit shape how we prepare the next generation of the semiconductor workforce.

Community colleges are partnering with employers to build technician programs. Universities are aligning engineering education with the industry's evolving needs. Companies are creating more opportunities for students through internships, apprenticeships, and other work-based learning experiences. We're proud to be part of this important work!
