Please join us in congratulating Master Inspector Donald Peterson on his retirement after 31 years of dedicated service!

Donald began the WSP portion of his state service on March 5, 2000, as a member of the 50th Recruit Class and went on to serve as a Trooper and Inspector in La Crosse and Monroe counties. Over the years, he contributed to the WSP in numerous roles, including Highway Criminal Interdiction teams, Air Support Unit aerial observer, Emergency Vehicle Operations instructor, scenario instructor, court officer, background investigator, and salvage vehicle inspector.

Donald was a part of numerous dignitary protection details for presidential, vice presidential, and other dignitary visits as well as numerous statewide civil disturbance responses. Through the inspector portion of his career, Donald conducted many CMV post-crash investigations occurring in Tomah, Deforest, Eau Claire, and Wausau posts.

Thank you, Donald, for your service and congratulations on a well-earned retirement.

On June 14, 2009, Trooper Jorge Dimas, 23 years of age and an 11-month veteran of the Wisconsin State Patrol, made the ultimate sacrifice when he lost his life due to injuries he sustained in the line of duty while working traffic patrol in Polk County.

Trooper Dimas was seriously injured on May 9, 2009, when the patrol vehicle he was operating was struck by another vehicle as he was in the process of initiating a traffic stop.
