Memorial Day is the only federal holiday where the American flag follows a split protocol. The U.S. Flag Code lays out the rule clearly: on Memorial Day, the flag is displayed at half-staff from sunrise until noon, then raised to full-staff for the remainder of the day until sunset.

That midday shift carries deep symbolic meaning. The morning hours at half-staff represent a period of national mourning — a collective recognition of every service member who gave their life for the country. At noon, raising the flag briskly to full-staff symbolizes the nation's resolve to carry on and honor their sacrifice through continued strength.

🎖️ Memorial Day Service – Warrens Mills Cemetery 🎖️

The Warrens Memorial Day Service will be held Monday, May 25 at 11:00 AM at the Warrens Mills Cemetery, beginning at the flagpoles.

🥁 This year’s featured guest is the Tomah High School Band, directed by Alex Knoepker 🎶 Their performance will help bring a patriotic and meaningful touch to the program as we honor and remember those who have served.

“We will be incorporating memories of the cemetery with a patriotic twist,” said event organizer Sara Moseley.

☔ In case of rain, the program will be moved to the Warrens Area Fire District building.

We invite the community to join us in this important time of remembrance. 🕯️

🇺🇸 SO CLOSE…NOW LET’S FINISH STRONG! 🇺🇸

Wisconsin VFW has officially crossed the 100% membership mark… and today we stand at an incredible 100.66%! 🔥

That is not just a number.

That is the result of dedicated comrades across this Department making the phone calls, paying the visits, recruiting new members, retaining current members, and refusing to let this mission fall short.

But comrades…we are not done yet.

The finish line is in sight, and 101% is calling our name.

This is the moment where every Post, every District, and every member digs just a little deeper.

✅ Recruit One.
✅ Retain One.
✅ Reach 101%.

One more conversation.
One more unpaid member brought back home.
One more eligible veteran shown the strength and purpose of this great organization.

We did not work this hard to coast across the line…

We are going to charge through it together.

“100% was a major milestone, but 101% is the statement that Wisconsin VFW finishes what it starts. We are within striking distance, and I know this Department has the heart, grit, and determination to Make It Count all the way to the finish.”
— State Commander Ty Letto

Let’s make these final days count, Wisconsin.

Recruit One. Retain One. Reach 101%.

Typical of many VFW or Legion Posts. A call out to all Veterans everywhere - If your local Post dies, who will be there to remind your community, schools and politicians that Veterans exist?
