📢 To further secure patron accounts, logging into Libby with a JCL card will require the library card PIN starting today, Thursday, October 15th. Libby revalidates a user’s access only about once every 24 hours, so some patrons may not be prompted for a PIN until the following day.
⁉️ Unsure what your PIN is? No worries! We can reset it for you over the phone (717-436-6378), in person (498 Jefferson St. Mifflintown, PA 17059) or on our website: https://juniata.chilipac.com/eg/opac/password_reset

Reader beware, you’re in for a scare!

For this Throwback Thursday, we thought it would be fun to share some delightfully spine-tingling nostalgia and revisit some all-time favorite spooky reads from the ‘90s.

While these books may have been written for tweens and teens, the stories are sure to transport you back to the flashlight-reading, just-one-more-chapter nights of yesteryear.

Do you have a favorite nostalgic '90s scary story? Let us know in the comments!

An update from the library: While we aren't hosting an official banned book challenge this year, our shelves still hold titles that have faced censorship or challenges across the country! 📚✨

Reading freely is one of the greatest tools we have to explore different perspectives, build empathy, and spark curiosity. You don't need a formal challenge or a reading log to dive into a challenged book—just your curiosity and a library card.

Looking for a place to start? Check out this list of the most banned books of the 2025-2026 school year: https://pen.org/banned-books-list-2026/

If we don't have the book you're looking for, let us get it for you. Put in a request at the desk or on our ILL request page: https://www.juniatalibrary.org/programs-services/ill

Just delivered - Threshing Day (Book 3.5 in the Empyrean Series by Rebecca Yarros)

On Threshing Day, there’s only one rule: don’t die.

The Empyrean series is best enjoyed in order.
Reading Order:
Book #1 Fourth Wing
Book #2 Iron Flame
Book #3 Onyx Storm
Book #3.5 Threshing Day

Though Threshing Day can be enjoyed as an introduction to the series, due to contained spoilers, it is best read after Onyx Storm
