Greetings friends! The JWA hosted the first planning meeting of 2025 last month and we'd like to start off by thanking everyone that paid their membership dues in 2024. Your support plays a vital role in the sustainability of the mission of the alliance. Water quality is so important to all of us for many reasons here in our local communities, and good water quality here means good water quality downstream... down river... all the way to the Chesapeake Bay!
Please renew your membership for 2025, or please become a new member by reaching out to Joe Lauver at (717) 350-3215.
Juniata County Conservation District Watershed Specialist Nick Smith attended the meeting to discuss upcoming JCCD events that will provide the JWA and its members with partnership opportunities. One such event is the annual Canal House clean-up. We will continue to iron out the details for this and keep everyone posted with a specific date and time.
Electronic recycling will take place on April 26th at the Port Royal Speedway/Fairground, and tire recycling will take place in September (date TBA) at the same location.
A rain barrel workshop will take place in late March (date TBA) at the Juniata County Library.
The Juniata Watershed Alliance greatly appreciates all of our volunteers and members, and we look forward to meeting new faces in 2025 that have an understanding and interest in water quality, and what this means to our local environment. Please join us on March 5th at 6pm for our next meeting to be held at the USDA Service Center behind the Lewistown State Police Barracks located just off the Arch Rock Exit of 22/322.
Take care and Stay Warm!
