Midway Museum Tours are 45 minutes. Adults $15, Seniors/Military $13, Children (5-19) $7. Under 5 free. Group tours and event space is available, visit our website to book.

Open Tues-Sat from 10-4. Under the direction of the late Thomas G. Little, historical Architect, the Midway Museum, a raised cottage style house typical of those built on the coast in the 18th century, was patterned after homes which stood at Sunbury, Dorchester Village and at Riceboro, including the Stage Coach Inn in Riceboro, which was sketched by Basil Hall on his trip through Georgia in 1828 and described as follows: “a frame-house, being made of timbers squared and fastened together, and afterwards covered with planks at the sides and ends, while the roof is either boarded or protected by shingles, a sort of wooden slate, two feet in length, and six inches wide. Almost all the houses in that part of the country have verandahs, or what they call ‘piazzas’.”

Since its completion, the Midway Museum has served as the pattern for numerous private reconstructions and renovations. The Museum includes period furnishings, artwork, and artifacts. Docents provide guided tours explaining the history of the Midway Church & Society from its founding in 1752 and the contributions made to U.S. history by the Society's members, which include two signers of the U.S. Declaration of Independence.

Looking for a unique fall outing for the whole family? Join us Saturday, October 24, for the Midway Museum’s Annual Cemetery Tour! 🍂🕯️

Step back in time as high school students and community members bring important figures from Liberty County and our nation’s history to life. Explore the stories of those who came before us, discover fascinating local history, and experience one of our community’s most unique traditions!

🖤 Is it kid-friendly? Absolutely! This is a family-friendly historical experience with NO jump scares, frightening effects, or horror-style scares. However, some stories touch on darker historical themes, including illness, death, enslavement, and life in earlier centuries.

🇺🇸 Honoring Our History, Celebrating Our Future! 🇺🇸

The Midway Museum’s Board of Governors would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and congratulations to Logan Strickland of Troop 500 for choosing the Midway Museum as the focus of his Eagle Scout project!

Through his project, Logan created a memorial tribute honoring Revolutionary War soldiers connected to the original Liberty County area. His work recognizes those who lived in our community and died during the American Revolution, served in the Continental Army, or made significant contributions to the Midway and Liberty County communities.

One of the most meaningful aspects of Logan’s project was researching these individuals and working alongside the Midway Museum and community members to compile a list of names that have not always been documented together in one place. This list will continue to grow, ensuring that future generations can learn about and remember the brave men who helped shape our local history and our nation’s founding.

Logan’s dedication to preserving our community’s heritage reflects the very best of Scouting: leadership, service, initiative, and a commitment to making a lasting difference. His memorial tribute provides a meaningful way to honor these patriots while strengthening the connection between our community and its Revolutionary War past.

On behalf of the entire Board of Governors, thank you, Logan, for your hard work, your service, and your commitment to preserving Liberty County’s history. We are honored to be part of this project and proud to help share the stories of those who came before us.
