Midway University Toastmasters Club

Midway University Toastmasters Club Improve your communication and leadership skills. Meeting Mondays, 6-7:15 pm. Come and see what we are all about!

Chartered in 2011, Midway Toastmasters has a mixed group of veteran speakers, long-standing members and new Toastmaster Members. It's our goal to help each member develop his or her own speaking voice and leadership abilities. Although we are a group that is serious about fine-tuning our communication and leadership abilities, our meetings are never lacking a fun experience. A typical Midway Toast

masters meeting includes a table topics session, speakers, evaluations of the speakers, and even a joke or word of the day. Meeting Information:

Midway University
Anne Hart Raymond Center Building
Room 120
Midway, KY 40347

Meeting Time: 6:00-7:15 PM every Monday
Club Status: Open to all

We had a great meeting this week. Genia practiced her pitch for the compact and "cuter" box cutter that she has invented. Regan shared tips on how she has progressed from panic to poise when it comes to public speaking. Emily mentioned that she uses different leadership styles in different situations. And Cynthia talked about all the highs she gets from Midway Toastmasters -- high energy, high performance, and, best of all, hijinks. See what else happened in our meeting Monday in this week's newsletter.

Some people just talk too fast. Rick had that experience at a drive-through restaurant recently. Arlynn outlined the 3 Ms that can launch any of our members to success as an area director. Mary told us about the state STEP program that helps small businesses. Congratulations to Steve and Megan for placing second and third in their district International Speech contests (District 40 and District 5, respectively). Read about that and more in this week's newsletter.

At this week's meeting: Megan reflected on her journey on the speech contest circuit from club to area to division to district in California. Jenilee, our International Director, complained about how stressful yoga is in her speech. She also praised Midway for its wonderful hybrid meeting experience. Emily explained that a flyer she saw years ago eventually brought her to Toastmasters last year. And the District 40 Conference is this coming weekend. Read about that and more using the link below:

Congrats to Genia and Megan for using their Toastmasters skills outside the club this week. In this week's meeting, Nick stressed how important it is to invite guests to our meetings. Arlynn talked about her "project shirt," the one she wears when doing projects around the house. Noran told us that sometimes we must ignore the loop of "what if's" and leap into the unknown. Genia shared that key lime on a stick is threatening one of her longest friendships. Check it out at at this week's newsletter below.

So what happened this week? We recognized seven members who earned 11 educational awards in March. Midway currently leads District 40 in the number of educational awards per club with 49. Deb told us about face-planting while walking her dog this week. Beth explained why it's healthier to NOT be a mouth-breather. Rick revealed that he once was an enforcer that smashed shaving cream pies in people's faces. And there was so much more. Read about it in our newsletter:

Quick tip: You don’t need to be confident to start speaking—you build confidence by speaking.

Most people think they need to feel ready first. The truth? Growth happens in the doing.

That’s what Toastmasters is all about—a safe place to practice, learn, and improve one step at a time.

Want to try it out? Join us as a guest anytime.
