DRC Mediator and Youth Educator Faith Supple received the Outstanding Youth Worker Award from the Orange County Youth Bureau in a ceremony attended by other awardees, their friends and families, community partners, and elected officials.
Faith was joined by her loving husband Glen, her longtime friend Karen, and DRC Executive Director Miriam Frankl.
This award recognizes Faith's work in our local schools, where she trains students to become peer mediators, and supports school administrations in setting up and running their peer mediation programs. Peer mediation programs are designed to help students with conflict resolution. Instead of every disagreement going straight to a teacher or principal, student mediators help classmates sit down, talk about the problem, listen to each other, and find a solution they can both agree on.
Faith also works with DRC to find spaces where she can reach the youth in the community outside of school to provide worthwhile life lessons in the areas of conflict resolution and communication skills.
In addition to a Certificate of Recognition from Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus, Faith also received certificates from Senator Robert Rolison, Assemblyman Jonathan Jacobson, and Congressman Pay Ryan.
DRC is immensely proud of Faith, and of all our volunteer mediators, for putting in the work and effort to advance the ideals of more peaceful communities.
