We are so incredibly grateful to the Middletown Eagles for choosing to support us again this year through this amazing fundraiser. This is what community is all about - coming together and supporting individuals and families affected by breast cancer.
We know cancer does not discriminate so to show these young players that being part of a team means more than what happens on the field is priceless.

If these photos don’t say it all, we will shout it out loud…THANK YOU to Beacon Hill Country Club for once again hosting their fundraiser benefiting breast intentions! Your commitment and generosity to our mission will help us to provide continued comfort, hope and support to breast cancer patients.

We also want to acknowledge some of the amazing children of your members. Instead of watching from the sidelines, they took the initiative to host their own fundraisers and donate the money to breast cancer patients in need.

Your kindness, compassion and willingness to help others at such a young age is truly inspiring. You are proof that making a difference has no age requirement!

Thank you to everyone who attended, donated and helped to make this event happen, but mostly, for showing local families facing breast cancer that they’re not alone.

In the UK, women are routinely invited for mammograms through their national health system—but those invitations stop after age 70. Women can still receive mammograms by self-referral, but many don’t realize that’s even an option.

A friend of Breast Intentions recently shared her story after discovering a new cancer at age 79 through a self-referred mammogram. It was caught before she ever felt a lump, reinforcing an important message: breast cancer doesn’t care how old you are!!

She’s now advocating for better communication so women over 70 know they can continue getting screened—and she’s asking others to support that effort through a petition.

It got us thinking…

Should New Jersey do more to remind women to talk with their healthcare providers about breast cancer screening as they get older? Would you support reminder letters or other outreach for women who may still benefit from mammograms?

Every woman is different, and screening decisions should be made with a healthcare provider based on individual health, risk factors, and personal preferences. But one thing we can all agree on is that knowledge saves lives, and early detection matters.
