This April, nearly 40 people gathered in Santa Rosa, California, for the 15th Annual March Against Stomach Cancer. Rain blew across our faces and soaked our shoes at the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains — but no one turned back. We walked for those in treatment, those facing a new diagnosis, and in memory of the loved ones we've lost to stomach cancer.

Help Improve Access to Gastric Cancer Care.

About the Study
UF Health wants to understand your experiences and perspectives related to the diagnosis, treatment, and coordination of gastric and gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) cancer care. Your feedback will help identify ways to improve early detection, patient navigation, and access to high-quality care.

What You’ll Do

Participants will attend one 90-minute online focus group where they can share their experiences with symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, or concerns related to gastric or gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) cancer. They will also complete a brief survey about their background and healthcare experiences. All discussions are confidential and led by trained UF research staff. As a thank-you for their time, participants will receive a $25 gift card.

The UM Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center, in collaboration with No Stomach For Cancer, hosted the 2026 Spotlight on Stomach Cancer, an educational symposium that brought together patients, caregivers, advocates, healthcare professionals, and members of the public. This event provides a welcoming space to learn, share experiences, and connect with others impacted by stomach cancer. Through expert presentations and discussions, participants gained practical guidance and insights into stomach cancer risk, care, and emerging research.

Genetic counseling and family testing save families from hereditary stomach cancer. But many families don't know they're at risk or can't access testing.

HDGC affects entire families. People with CDH1 or CTNNA1 mutations face a significantly increased lifetime risk for diffuse gastric cancer and lobular breast cancer.

Early identification through genetic testing enables preventive measures and surveillance that save lives.
