Caregiving for someone with kidney cancer can bring moments of love and connection, but also uncertainty, exhaustion, and challenges that others may not always see. Behind the Care is a special virtual conversation created to bring caregivers together to share, learn, and feel supported.

Join the Judy Nicholson Kidney Cancer Foundation on Thursday, November 12 at 6:30 PM EST as current caregivers (Amy Gowans, Ken Mills and Nicole Scott) share their personal experiences, the challenges they have faced, and what has helped them along the way. This candid conversation moderated by Kathy Russell, will provide an opportunity to hear from people who understand the realities of caregiving and to connect with a community committed to supporting one another.

Whether you are a current caregiver, former caregiver, family member, or someone supporting a loved one with kidney cancer, you are welcome to join us. If you have questions you would like us to include please send them to [email protected] .

$10. Ten (10) friends. 🧡 The JNF $10 Hope Challenge starts today! Every day, someone hears “You have kidney cancer.”

This year, approximately 81K people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Some were just diagnosed. Others have been living with the disease for years. JNF is here for every stage of that journey.

We know that moment. Many of us are patients and caregivers ourselves. Your $10 helps us reach people right after a diagnosis and stay with them through every stage. It connects patients and caregivers with someone who understands. It brings doctors and researchers to patients through free symposiums, virtual programs, and Real Talk on Renal Cancer. It supports young researchers, patient advocacy, and new ways to give back directly to patients and caregivers.

Here is the challenge:

1 Give $10.
2 Ask 10 friends or family members to give $10.
3 Start a team and share this in honor or memory of someone you love.

Some of the strongest RCC advocates never ask for the microphone. 🧡 On Sept 19th, at our 5th Annual Celebration of Life dinner in Las Vegas, we honored one of them. Janelle Reese received the 2026 JNF “Advocacy Champion” Award, given in honor of Bonnie Olscamp.

Last year’s recipient, Sally Versendaal, had the honor of presenting the award.

Janelle helps run both of our All Stages and Stage IV Support Groups with an amazing team that shows up for this community every day. She is there when the news is tough, the side effects are scary, or the grief is too heavy to carry alone. She answers. She stays. And she does it while walking this same road herself as a Stage IV kidney cancer patient.

Since our auctions began in 2024, she has also made beautiful pieces for the auctions and our Celebration of Life dinners.

Hope does not always arrive loud. Sometimes it is a message at 11 p.m., a handmade gift, someone reminding you that you are not on this path alone. 🧡
