Well… she’s here 🤍

Teagan Mae made her arrival on March 14th, and we’ve been figuring out this whole “newborn + sanctuary” life ever since.

It’s a little chaotic, a little sleep-deprived, and very us. Bottles on the couch, dogs close by, and a baby who’s already getting used to life surrounded by animals.

The dogs have been curious but gentle (and slightly confused), and we’re taking it slow and letting everyone adjust.

We’re really happy. Really tired. And very grateful.

Welcome to Sammie’s House, baby Teagan 🥰🥰🥰

A quiet morning at Sammie’s House.

The dogs have claimed the sunny spots on the porch, everyone has finished breakfast, and the only real agenda for the day is a few naps and maybe a slow wander around the yard.

This is what sanctuary life looks like for senior dogs.

No kennels. No stress. Just a home where they can settle in, be comfortable, and spend their golden years surrounded by people who love them.

Moments like this might look simple, but they’re built on a lot of behind-the-scenes care — medications, vet visits, good food, and safe spaces to rest.

It’s exactly why we created the Golden Years Circle this week — a small community of people helping make sure this kind of peaceful life is always possible for the dogs here.

And honestly, mornings like this are why it’s all worth it. 💛

For a long time, Sammie’s House has operated the way a lot of small rescues do — month to month.

A fundraiser here, a few donations there, hoping that when a vet bill or medication refill comes up, the support will be there.

But senior dogs deserve something steadier than that.

Right now, it costs about $1,000 per month to run Sammie’s House. That covers food, medications, routine vet care, fencing repairs, and all the little things that make this a real home for the dogs who live here.

So we created something new:
The Golden Years Circle.

It’s our monthly giving community — people who choose to support the sanctuary with a small recurring gift so the dogs’ care is predictable and secure.

If 40 people give $25 per month, our core expenses are fully covered.

And the beautiful thing is… it’s already starting.

We already have 5 founding members giving $335 per month toward the dogs’ care.

That means medications get refilled without hesitation.
Vet visits get scheduled with confidence.
And the dogs here get to keep living their golden years in a home, not a kennel.

If you’ve ever wondered how to support Sammie’s House in a consistent, meaningful way — this is it.

Join the Golden Years Circle at the link in our bio.

Your small monthly gift becomes part of the steady foundation that keeps this sanctuary running. ✨

Taste test in progress at Sammie’s House 👀🐾

We’re excited to share a new partnership with Farm to Pet, a company that makes simple, single-ingredient treats sourced straight from farms — no fillers, no weird additives, just real food for dogs.

As you can see… the review panel here is very interested.

If you want to try them for your own pups, you can use code SAMMIESHOUSE for 10% off, and a portion of every purchase also helps support the animals here at the sanctuary. 🤍

Buzz and Callie showing us what playtime looks like when everyone involved is a little older and a lot wiser.

These senior dogs don’t really wrestle the way young dogs do. Instead, it’s a slow and very polite exchange of gentle face nibbles, soft paw taps, and the occasional dramatic pause to make sure everyone is still having fun. It might not look like much, but in the senior dog world this is full-on playtime.

Moments like this are one of the many reasons we love giving older dogs a safe place to age in comfort. They still have their personalities, their friendships, and their little daily rituals… they just move through them at a softer pace.

Just another sweet moment from life here at Sammie’s House.

Callie out here proving that a happy girl doesn’t need two matching eyes to see how good life is. 💙

One blue, one brown, and 100% heart. She’s always smiling, always ready for a snack, and always keeping an eye (or two 😉) on whatever’s happening around the sanctuary.

Just another sweet little moment from life at Sammie’s House.

Did you know March 3rd is Tripawd Awareness Day? It's to honor animal amputees and the people who care for them by celebrating pet amputation awareness among pet lovers and the veterinary community. Whether an animal is born with a limb difference or undergoes amputation for any reason, March 3rd is the best day of the year to showcase the resilient ways that dogs, cats, and other animals face limb loss and life on three legs🐾

Here's ToG tripod star, Reba, sporting a jacket for her prosthetic made by 3DPets. She's going to try out a new leg with the help of our vet. Wish her luck🩷

So, tomorrow is actually my due date.

And while Sammie’s House has been as busy as ever behind the scenes, you may have noticed that we haven’t welcomed any new senior dogs lately.

Over the past few weeks we’ve shared some hard updates — saying goodbye to Tucker and Mocha, and celebrating Darla finding a wonderful new home. Right now we have nine resident dogs at the sanctuary, which is actually below our typical capacity of about 10–15 senior residents.

Normally when spots open, we begin preparing to welcome new seniors pretty quickly.

But this time, we’ve been intentionally waiting.

With a baby arriving any day now, it felt important to pause for a moment and make sure we can welcome both our daughter and future sanctuary residents in the right way. Running a sanctuary means planning not just for the animals, but for the humans caring for them too.

The quiet intake period won’t last forever. There are always more senior dogs out there who need a soft landing, and Sammie’s House will be ready for them.

For now, though, we’re getting ready to welcome one very tiny new resident first.

And as you can see… the dogs have already claimed her as their own. 🐾👶
