Join us on National Living History Day, September 26, 2026, from 10am-1pm at Elizabeth Virrick Park as the Virrick Park Committee and D2 Commisioner Pardo partner with the FIU Public Humanities Lab, and the FIU School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture students for a national day of programming and story telling featuring community design prototypes developed by the students.
The FIU student designs will explore questions of community, connection, and the environment. Visitors are invited to explore the exhibition, experience the projects, provide feedback, and share their memories and knowledge of the neighborhood.
Through this community exchange, students and neighbors can imagine new possibilities for the park while deepening their understanding of the histories, stories, and relationships that make and a meaningful place.
