Techo - U.S.

Techo - U.S. TECHO (teh-choh) works in informal settlements to create a just society without poverty.

Every TECHO believes that all people can be empowered to fully exercise their rights and duties and have the opportunity to develop their capacities. We are convinced that poverty can be permanently eradicated if society as a whole recognizes poverty as a priority and actively works towards overcoming it.

Four walls and a solid roof. It may seem basic, but for millions of families across Latin America and the Caribbean, it is the starting point for a more just future.

Yesica’s new home represents leaving behind the vulnerability of dirt floors and makeshift walls. It transforms the health, safety, and opportunities of an entire family. 🏠💙

Thank you to every neighbor and volunteer who contributed their time, effort, and heart to be part of this change. ❤️‍🩹

A dignified home is the first step toward fighting inequality. 🔨

A safe home transforms uncertainty into stability.
No one chooses where they are born, but everyone deserves a safe place from which to move forward. 🏠⭐️

What happens when young people step out of the classroom and into a completely different reality?
Something bigger than a trip begins.

Together with Columbus High School, through our US Volunteer Program Youth Change Makers, this experience in Costa Rica became more than the construction of a home. It became a space for connection, perspective, and transformation in both directions. 🏠🤝

Building the next generation of change-makers. 💙

Pablo Landi believed deeply in the power of community, generosity, and human connection. For over a decade, he and his family walked alongside TECHO with a deep commitment to families living in situation of poverty across Latin America, leaving a lasting mark on our community.

We send our heartfelt condolences to his wife Amy, their children Tiago, Francesca, and Mateo, and all who loved him. In honor of Pablo’s life and legacy, his family has chosen to continue supporting the mission he cared so deeply about through this memorial fundraiser.

We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to honor his memory and continue his impact through the link in our bio.

What does turning on a tap mean to you? 💧

On this World Hand Hygiene Day, we remember that access to water is the first line of defense against disease. 🧼

Zenón’s story in Peru reminds us why we work alongside families every day: so that washing hands is not a privilege, but a safe, everyday reality for thousands of families living in settlements across the region. 🤝✨

For those living in informal settlements, climate change isn’t a statistic or a debate, it’s the water leaking through the roof, the cold seeping through the walls, and the mud that covers everything. 👉🏼 The climate crisis is a crisis of inequality. 🌎

Today, on Earth Day, we reiterate our commitment to climate justice. Because there is no healthy planet if we leave the most vulnerable communities behind. 🏠

Caring for our planet also means ensuring that no one has to face the force of nature without a decent place to call home. 🫱🏽‍🫲🏼

You’re more likely to find a four-leaf clover than to experience this. 🍀

For most people, stepping into a Latin American informal settlement will never happen.

But here they are. From different parts of the world, sharing stories, building side by side, learning from each other.

What started as a construction became something else:
Connection. Perspective. Humanity. 🫂

You stop seeing “others” and start seeing families, resilience, and communities full of strength. ❤️‍🩹

Because sometimes, the most unlikely encounters
are the ones that change you the most. ☝🏼

For a family, an emergency home isn’t the final goal; it’s a solid foundation to start dreaming again. It’s where children grow up safe, where the rain is no longer a threat, and where rest finally has a place. 🏠

Every TECHO build is proof that when we come together, we can transform entire realities. One family at a time. One community at a time. 💙

Today is World Health Day, and we can’t talk about health without talking about housing. 🏠

According to the WHO, housing is a key driver of a person’s health. No one chooses the home they are born into, but we can all choose not to look the other way. Health shouldn’t be a privilege determined by your zip code. 🌎

Big change starts with one person. Don’t let health be a matter of chance.
