Did you know that thanks to generous local farmers, ranchers, and community members, our shelter has stayed stocked with beef all year long? That may sound like a simple thing, but when you serve more than 31,000 meals and snacks each year- it makes an incredible difference.
Ground beef in our freezer means families staying in shelter have access to familiar, nourishing meals. It means a parent can cook something their children will eat after a difficult day. It means one less expense for our program and one more way we can make shelter feel a little more like home. Because food is more than a meal. Food is comfort. Food is care. Food is healing.
And it reminds us of something else: you don’t have to fit into one particular box to make a difference in the lives of survivors.
Maybe you’re a farmer or rancher who can donate beef. Maybe you own a business with a product or service to share. Maybe you garden, sew, bake, build, organize, teach, or simply have a heart for helping. Whatever your business, talent, hobby, or resources may be, there may be a way to use them to support survivors and families in our community.
