Effort of Hope - EOH Effort of Hope is a nonprofit that makes and distributes gift bags for elderly at Christmas.

This past Christmas, Effort of Hope did something we’d never done before. We offered haircuts and perms to residents at a local nursing home…..I had no idea the positive impact it was going to have on all the residents that participated.
The joy, happiness and boost in their self esteem blew me away.
Something so many of us take for granted…..totally changed them.
I have decided this is something we need to try to do a couple times a year…..offer haircuts and perms to any of the residents that want one.
I think Christmas time is a perfect time but I’m also wanting to try offering them to a couple facilities in May for Mother’s Day.
To do this I’m going to need donations to help fund this.

I purposefully didn’t do my EOH post during the crazy busy Christmas and New Year’s season because I wanted to wait until things slowed down and people weren’t tired of the holiday posts.
This Christmas season was amazing for many elderly because of the wonderful individuals and businesses that support this passion of mine…..and that believe in me.
We tried something different this year……we offered haircuts and perms at a facility and when I tell you it was amazing……I mean, it was AMAZING.
Their demeanor totally changed as they were getting fresh cuts. A light came on it their eyes that had been dimmed.
I couldn’t have done this new project without Sarah and her votech students, Sonja, and Patty and her sudents at Main Attractions.
This is definitely something I want to start incorporating a couple times a year.
And of course the gift bags were a huge hit with everyone who received them. We included sets of pajama’s in about half the gift bags we handed out.

EOH is growing……. I have big dreams.

Again, thank you to EVERYONE who gave and helped make another Christmas season special for elderly in our area.

Here is a sneak peek at what Effort of Hope has been up to this week.
Not only are we doing major shopping and putting gift bags together for Christmas….we are also getting some elderly individuals set up with fresh haircuts and perms.
I can’t even put into words what it’s been like seeing the joy on their faces as they’ve received these.

I am still needing about $7,000 more to finish this Christmas season out. There are so many elderly individuals need.

No donation is too big or too small.

It’s a great feeling to know you are helping others and having a positive impact on them.
Plus it’s also a great tax write off because we are a 501c3 nonprofit.
