📊 OPNA Data Spotlight: 6th Grade | Ottawa County

Prevention starts early! 💙

What does the data tell us about substance use among Ottawa County's youngest students?

The 2023–2024 Oklahoma Prevention Needs Assessment (OPNA) provides insight into lifetime substance use reported by 6th-grade students in Ottawa County compared with students statewide.

📌 Some key findings:
• Lifetime alcohol use: 7.3% in Ottawa County compared with 10.0% statewide.
• Lifetime ma*****na use: 4.8% in both Ottawa County and Oklahoma.

These findings remind us why early prevention education, supportive adults, and open conversations about substance use matter. Families, schools, and community partners all have a role in helping young people make healthy choices.

We’ll be gathering at Centennial Park (Walking Park) Pavilion on Saturday, October 10th from 11 AM–2 PM for an Awareness Walk & Community Event honoring and supporting survivors of domestic violence. 💜

🌭 Free meal — Chili Dogs & Mac & Cheese
Hygiene items will be available for neighbors who are in need
