🎉 Creating Lasting Memories at Homecoming 🎉

What a wonderful evening our B.R.I.D.G.E.S. students enjoyed at Homecoming this past weekend! By covering the cost of event tickets, the HDS Foundation B.R.I.D.G.E.S. Grant helped make Homecoming accessible to all students, promoting inclusion and participation in school activities.

Throughout the evening, students enjoyed dancing, socializing with their peers, taking photos, and celebrating alongside friends in a fun and inclusive environment. Events like Homecoming provide valuable opportunities for students to strengthen social skills, build confidence, foster meaningful friendships, and develop a greater sense of belonging within their school community. 💃🏼🕺

The night reflected the importance of ensuring every student can share in the moments that make school memories special. ❤

Join us at DCDT 2026!

HDS Foundation Executive Director Liz Falk and Dr. Tara Frazier of the University of North Florida will present "Community-Based Instruction: Lessons for ALL!" which highlights how partnerships among schools, families, businesses, and community organizations can expand meaningful transition opportunities for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related abilities.

We're excited to share our experiences, learn from peers, and bring new ideas back to the communities we serve!

✨Building Life Skills Through Community Engagement✨

Last week, the B.R.I.D.G.E.S. students put their life skills into action during a meaningful Community-Based Instruction trip to Walmart. Students worked in teams to locate, compare, and purchase food items for our school's annual Harvest Drive, helping support local families in need this Thanksgiving season.

The Harvest Drive is dedicated to providing holiday meals and essential food staples to local families, and we are proud that our students were able to contribute enough items to fill two Thanksgiving food boxes. Through this experience, students practiced budgeting, teamwork, decision-making, and community engagement while learning the importance of giving back.

We are so proud of our students for making a difference and helping spread kindness throughout our community! ❤

In honor of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), No Limits Coffee Shop is hosting a FREE ServSafe Food Handler Training for adults with special needs, thanks to the generosity of Al Kanbar from Silver Spoon Miami!

This is more than just a class. It's an opportunity to gain valuable workplace skills, build confidence, and earn an official ServSafe Food Handler Certification, a nationally recognized credential that can help open doors to employment in the food service industry.

The B.R.I.D.G.E.S. students kicked off the school year with a fun and educational Community-Based Instruction (CBI) trip to in Sunrise! 🥪

Before their visit, students practiced important real-world skills by reading adapted menus, selecting meal options, and using calculators to determine order totals. They also reviewed restaurant etiquette, including using an appropriate tone of voice, making eye contact, saying "please" and "thank you," and cleaning up after themselves.

At Jersey Mike's, students independently placed their orders, made decisions about toppings, and applied the skills they had practiced in the classroom. Most importantly, they enjoyed spending time with their peers and celebrating a successful start to the year's CBI outings.

Experiences like these help students build confidence, independence, communication skills, and real-world problem-solving abilities that support their transition to adulthood. ✨

A heartfelt thank you to our community partner, Outback Steakhouse Davie, for hosting our Parent Night: Connect, Learn & Support this weekend!

Current and former parents of our B.R.I.D.G.E.S. students joined us for an evening of connection, learning, and valuable information about the transition from high school to post-secondary opportunities.

We extend our gratitude to Nathalie Stanish, Manager at , for sharing important transition resources and guidance with our families. We are also incredibly thankful to Steven Barnes and the team for generously donating appetizers and beverages.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to a wonderful evening of support and community. Together, we are helping our students build successful futures.

💰📚 Learning Real-World Money Skills! 📚💰

This week, our B.R.I.D.G.E.S. students welcomed guest speakers from for an interactive lesson on banking, financial safety, and money management. Students learned about protecting their PINs, recognizing scams and fraud, writing checks, and even creating their own signatures!

We are proud of how engaged the students were as they asked thoughtful questions and explored important financial skills that support greater independence and self-confidence.

A special thank you to Ms. Shamina Haider and Ms. Nadine Small from Bank of America for sharing their time, knowledge, and expertise with our students. We appreciate this valuable learning experience!
