Big thank you to Stephanie Kulas for the October program, where she showed us how to make an ornament with 3” Styrofoam balls and 2.5” fabric squares!

The hands on program was great with easy to follow steps, and it was nice to be able to follow along and visit with everyone at the table as each step was worked on. (Although I got caught up and forgot that I was filling in to take pictures, whoops, sorry Cindy!)

Everyone’s was looking very nice before the meeting wrapped up, hoping to see any finished ones in November!

Debbie Craighead will be bringing Maggie Hawkins' fabric collection and quilting tools to the Guild meeting on Oct 5. If you are interested in taking some items home, please bring bags and/or boxes. Maggie collected kits and BOMs from Mexico Sewing Center and Sticky Wicket for years. She was saving them for her retirement.

We are very appreciative that her family is willing to share them with us.

Community Liaison Report

When I checked with Dialysis recently, they had 4 quilts left and one possible patient to
start. So I will take 3 or 4 quilts there very soon. Thank you for all of your donated

quilts.

For ACCIS—cleaning products are in short-supply. Needed are any kind of soap, house-
hold cleaners (glass, toilet, kitchen, disinfectants) laundry supplies (detergent, dryer

sheets, stain sticks) facial tis-sue, toilet paper, paper towels, etc. Also personal hygiene

products are always needed!

Wow! A big shout out and thank you to Kaitlin Sweitzer for the September program on
taking a graphic and making your own paper piecing pattern. I have a new and broader
respect for pattern designers. I hope everyone is giving Kaitlin's leaf pattern a try. Please

bring them for show and tell in October.

Sending a reminder to join the president's challenge. You can find the directions on Corey
Yoder's website and blog. You may work at your own speed. Also, please bring what you
have done so far to each meeting. Your color way might inspire someone else to join us in
this challenge. It would be great if we could hang them all together at our 2027 quilt
show. The best advice I have as you work on this project is to measure each and every step.
Cindy Baker, Melanie Kriegel, Anna Mary Hughes, and I attended the Boonslick Day
Quilt Guild, September 14. Their guest speaker was Alice Ridge whose lecture and trunk
show was "Quilt Trip Around the World". She was a dynamic and interesting speaker.
The next morning everyone in our group except me went to her workshop on "Mock

Molas". Hopefully they will bring their projects for show and tell.

The board is already discussing the annual Christmas dinner and auction. This year we
will not have a silent auction table instead the board will be putting together themed gift
baskets for an Irish raffle. We will still have our regular auction so all members need to be
thinking about what they will donate. Donations can be anything you would like such as
quilts, home canned food, baked goods, homemade candy, etc. Please keep in mind that

we usually have guests that are not quilters but are looking for gifts.

Last but not least, I have filled all the committees/positions now. Susan and Elizabeth
Ward are hospitality and Melanie Kriegel is the member at large. Thank you to everyone

who has taken an office and or committee.

Program: Stephanie Kulas will be doing the program
for October.
She will be walking us through making an
ornament doing one
together. If everyone would bring 2.5 inch fabric squares
that would be great. For one side of the ornament it is: 4
squares for the center. 8 each of the other two colors. So
for the whole thing is 8 squares center star, 16 of the
next row and 16 of the outer row.

A measuring tape would also be helpful. Stephanie will bring the Styrofoam and pins.

Monday, October 5, 2026

at 6:30pm in the Activities Hall of the First Presbyterian Church.
Officers meet at 6:00 pm before the regular meeting.
