Yesterday we had our Spring Ag Career Field Trip! A huge thank you to Brandywine Heights Education Foundation for Sponsoring this trip! We were able to travel to BAD FARMan d Hawk Mountain Sanctuary Association in Kempton!

38 of our FFA and Agriculture Students got hands on experience in the agricultural and environmental science fields.

At BAD Farm, we got a tour of their facilities by one of their owners, Kacey. BAD Farm is a Dairy Farm, that focuses on Farm to table with many of their different products. We started with a tour of of their Road Side Stand, that sells Milk, Beef and Pork, Eggs, Ice Cream, and many different kinds of Yogurt and Cheeses. We then got to see their Step-up Parlor, where they milk 50 cows, as well as their flock of 40 sheep, 20 pigs, and 200 Chickens. Students got to pet many of the animals and were excited to see the many different operations at the farm. At the conclusion of the tour, Students got to enjoy a small dish of ice cream, as well as shop the store for many goodies!

At Hawk Mountain, we enjoyed a presentation on the history of Hawk Mountain and the surrounding area. We then got to meet their Ambassador animals, Hermit the American Kestrel and Tiny the Eastern Screech Owl. Students learned about all of the groups of Raptors that frequent the area. They then got the chance to hike some of the trails and see the views.

Overall, Students thoroughly enjoyed their time getting to meet different kinds of animals, both farm and wildlife, as well as eating some delicious treats!

In just over a month, we will have 14 brand new FFA members get to put on their very own Blue and Gold Jackets for the first time at the Pennsylvania Farm Show! We are so excited for them to take part in the MidWinter Convention, to be among 1500 other FFA members getting to put on their jackets.

This wouldn't be possible without our sponsors, who graciously supported our first year members! Thank you for your support!
