Did the Church Use Romans 13 to Justify Hi**er?

Most Christians have read Romans 13 as a command to obey their government, no matter what. But during World War 2, the German Lutheran Church used that exact interpretation to justify supporting Hi**er. Were they right? In this clip from Torah Class’s deep study of Romans, we confront what Paul actually meant and why taking a single verse out of its full biblical context can lead to catastrophic doctrine. This is Bible study that takes obedience to God seriously. The answer isn’t political. It’s biblical.

If you’re looking for a Bible study that goes deeper, follow as we study the Word verse by verse.

Tom Bradford from RE-Visited teaching on a Topical Teaching. Paul, The Law and The Jewish People. The Anti-Torah Lie That Twists The Gospel - The Pattern Paul Never Abandoned. Saved By Grace, Walking In Torah: Paul Agrees Yeshua Did NOT Abolish It.
Paul didn't tear down what Yeshua refused to abolish. Grace still saves. Torah still guides. The pattern hasn't changed — only the teaching about it has.
If grace is what saved you and Torah is how the redeemed are meant to walk — are you treating one like the enemy, and who taught you to see it that way?

We just celebrated Shavuot with good food, Scripture, fellowship, and gratitude for the Father’s instructions and promises. 🌾

Many Christians know this day as Pentecost, but few realize its roots go all the way back to the biblical feast days. Shavuot is connected to harvest, covenant, provision, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2.

There’s something powerful about slowing down, gathering around the table, reading Scripture together, sharing meals, and remembering that the Bible is one connected story from beginning to end.

No pressure. No perfection. Just a desire to draw near to the Father, teach our children His ways, and celebrate the times He called holy.

If the biblical feast days are new to you or something you’ve been quietly curious about, you’re welcome here. Don’t forget to follow as we journey through the biblical feasts together.

Did you grow up hearing about Shavuot or only Pentecost?

Institutional Christianity often treats Paul as if he invented a brand-new religion — like Alexander Graham Bell designing a telephone network from a blank sheet of paper. But that assumption changes everything about how we read his New Testament letters, and not for the better. Torah Class makes the case that Paul was a highly trained Jewish rabbi deeply rooted in rabbinic Judaism and Jewish history — and that his ideas didn’t emerge from nowhere. The Dead Sea Scrolls are part of how we know that. If you’ve ever wondered why Paul can feel hard to understand in your Bible study, this may be why. Follow as we study the Bible together!

In this Bible teaching, Paul wasn’t calling believers to an emotional, ecstatic response. He was saying that surrendering yourself to God is the intelligent, rational, reason-based response to salvation. This is what Romans 12:1 actually says and most Bible study never gets this deep.

Tom Bradford from RE-Visited teaching on the book of Romans. Paul Never Told You to Obey Tyrants — 'Submit' Was Mistranslated for Centuries. 'Love Your Neighbor' Was Never New — Hillel Taught It Before Yeshua or Christianity | Romans 13:1-14
If "love your neighbor" was 1,500 years old before Yeshua quoted it — how much of what your church calls "New Testament ethics" is actually Torah you've been told doesn't apply to you?

Most Christians assume Paul was essentially inventing Christianity from scratch — a blank-sheet theologian building a new faith. But the Dead Sea Scrolls, written more than 100 years before Paul, contain the same ideas, the same theology, even the same terminology Paul used. Church scholars who study these ancient historical documents know this. So why is institutional Christianity so quiet about this pivotal moment in biblical history?

This clip from digs into what the Dead Sea Scrolls actually reveal about Paul, his Jewish roots, and the origins of New Testament thought — and what it means for how we understand Christianity’s origins and the ancient history behind it.

What does the Bible actually mean when it says to love God or hate evil? This teaching from Romans 12 challenges the modern emotional definition of love and explains the biblical meaning of love, hate, obedience, and devotion from a Hebrew perspective. It also explores deeper questions about what is love, how faith shapes relationships, and why authentic love in Christianity is meant to be more than feelings alone.
