Rain or shine, the learning doesn’t stop at Walk on Water! 🌧️🐴

When stormy weather rolls in, we simply pivot! Instead of our usual time in the saddle, we take the opportunity to focus on barn and equine education, hands-on horsemanship skills, and exercises that help our riders grow in new ways.

We believe that becoming a well-rounded horseperson means so much more than just knowing how to ride. It’s about understanding the horse, learning proper care, building confidence, and developing the knowledge and skills that make a true horseman.

Sometimes the most valuable lessons happen with both feet on the ground! 🤎

✨ 20 years ago, Walk on Water began with a calling.

As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, we’ve spent a lot of time looking back at where it all started — and at the woman who said “yes” when God placed this ministry on her heart. 🤎

Our founder, Patricia “Patti” Bryan, recently had the opportunity to share her story with OrlandoVoyager, including the journey that led to the beginning of Walk on Water and the heart behind what we do.

What started in 2005 as a vision to bring together horses, people, and faith has grown into something we could have never fully imagined. Over the last two decades, countless riders, families, volunteers, horses, donors, and friends have become part of the Walk on Water story.

Through every season, one thing has remained at the center: God’s faithfulness.

We are so grateful for Patti’s willingness to follow His calling all those years ago and for every person who has helped carry that vision forward since.

We wanted to clear up a little misunderstanding regarding the date of our upcoming 20th Anniversary Harvest Hoedown!

Our Harvest Hoedown is NOT happening this week — we still have a little more time before the fun begins! 🤎

🗓 The correct date is Saturday, November 7th from 3–7 PM!

There was simply a misunderstanding in a publication, so we want to make sure you guys know the official date!

🌾 WE’VE BEEN BLESSED — AND NOW WE NEED SOME HELP! 🤎

After years and years of weathering hurricanes, Florida sunshine, rain, and the elements, our old hay shed is finally ready for retirement!

We have been incredibly blessed to have the cost of a brand-new hay shed donated to Walk on Water Ministries! 🙌 This much-needed new space will give us a safe, dry place to store our hay, shavings, and now our carriage equipment, too!

But before the new shed can go up, the old one has to come DOWN! 💪🔨

We need helping hands to clean out and tear down the old hay shed so we can also get in there and do some much-needed tree maintenance before construction begins.

We wrapped up our summer programs in July and headed into a season of rest for the month of August. ☀️🐴

Here in Florida, August brings some of our hottest days of the year, so we intentionally use this time to give our hardworking horses — and our staff — a much-deserved break. A time to rest, reset, and prepare for all that the Lord has in store for the fall. 🤍

But even in a season of rest, God was still adding something special to WOW!

During our August break, we welcomed the newest member of our herd — Jill! 🐴

Jill is a gentle Percheron who came to us from a wonderful home right here in our local community. In fact, if you’re local, there’s a chance you may have even seen her pulling a carriage around town at some point!

It didn’t take long for Jill to become a barn favorite. She has the sweetest, quiet presence about her and already seems to have a way of soothing the people who meet her.

We’re reminded all the time that God created horses with an incredible ability to meet us right where we are. Sometimes it’s their strength, sometimes it’s their patience, and sometimes it’s simply their quiet presence that helps us slow down, breathe, and feel safe.

Jill has already been such a beautiful picture of that. 🤎

We are so thankful the Lord brought her to WOW, and we can’t wait to see how He uses this sweet girl in the lives of those we serve!

We have been SO, SO busy here at WOW! 🐴☀️ So busy, in fact, that social media took a little bit of a back burner. 😅 But we’re back and ready to fill y’all in on everything we’ve been up to!

We had an amazing summer session filled with horseback riding, equine education, planting seeds, painting, playing, reading, Bible studies, and SO much more. 🌻🎨📚🐎

Throughout the summer, we didn’t just learn about horses — we learned about who God created us to be. 🤎 We talked about being made on purpose, for a purpose, growing where God plants us, choosing joy, serving others, listening for Jesus’ voice, and continuing to persevere even when something feels hard.

And we got to see so many of those lessons come to life right here at the barn. 🌱 Campers planted seeds while learning how God grows us, gained confidence and independence on horseback, practiced patience and kindness, encouraged one another, and learned that God doesn’t make copies — each of us is wonderfully and uniquely made.

There are WAY too many sweet moments to fit into one post, but here’s a little glimpse into a summer full of horses, friendship, laughter, learning, growth, and Jesus. 🤍

We are incredibly thankful for every family who trusted us with their kiddos, every volunteer and staff member who poured into them, and most of all, for the Lord continuing to use this ministry and these horses in ways bigger than we could ever plan ourselves.

What a blessing this summer was. 🌻🐴

Walk on Water Ministries is looking for a **Part-Time Barn Team Member** to join our team and help care for our incredible horses while supporting the daily operations of our Christ-centered ministry.

**We’re looking for someone who:**
🐴 Has horse handling experience
✝️ Has a strong Christian faith and servant’s heart
💪 Is dependable, hardworking, and self-motivated
❤️ Desires to make a difference through ministry

**Position Details:**
🐴 Part-Time Position (approximately 15 hours/week)
📅 Set weekly schedule with opportunities to pick up additional shifts as needed
🌅 Must be available for some morning feedings, afternoon feedings, weekends, and holidays as part of our horse care schedule
💲 Compensation based on experience
📍 Merritt Island, FL

A little overdue… but camp season has kept us busy! 😅 We’re finally getting around to sharing highlights from our first week of Horseback Riding Enrichment Camp.

What a blessing it was to spend the week with these amazing campers! We watched them grow in confidence as they learned to ride, care for their horses, encourage one another, and begin each day in God’s Word. It was a joy to see them step outside their comfort zones and be reminded that with Christ, all things are possible.

We are grateful for the opportunity to share the love of Christ through horses and to watch these children grow in both confidence and character. Thank you to everyone who helps make this ministry possible—we’re excited to see what the rest of the summer holds! 🤍🐴
