We (Jim and Monika) are coming home from a trip to Alaska, now sitting in the Seattle airport waiting for our flight home. I love sitting here and watching people. I love watching the variety of people, their mode of dress, the various skin colors, the many languages that are spoken here. It so reflects who America is, a country with immigrants, all looking for opportunities to move forward. Some came 2000+ years ago, others just recently. For each person it was a process, an arduous journey. The first came in hope of a better future, more opportunities, and freedom, and that still is the case today. MLK Jr had a dream for all of us, for justice and mercy. Today you and I have to make decisions that either help this dream become a reality or let things stand as they are.
For me personally, I am thankful to be in America. For me it meant opportunities that I could not have in Germany. I contribute, I care, I have impact. I try not to be a burden to this country. I am a person who wants to make a difference, and I think that is the case for most people living in this country. Let’s keep dreaming, let’s keep living out Micah 6:8 to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with God.
