Plot twist: Breast health has never been a girls-only club.

Everyone has breast tissue. Everyone benefits from knowing the signs. And everyone probably knows someone whose life has been touched by breast cancer.

Knowledge looks good on everyone.

Each year in New York, nearly 18,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer, and close to 2,300 lose their lives to the disease. Every number has a name. A family. A story.

These numbers remind us why breast health education isn't optional. It's lifesaving.

Smoking rates are down. Curiosity is up.

In 2024, about 1 in 5 middle and high school students who have never smoked said they were open to trying ci******es. Despite historically low youth cigarette smoking rates, openness now exceeds levels seen when youth smoking was far more common.

That's a reminder that prevention works, but we need to keep working at it.

It is with very heavy hearts that we honor the passing of our beloved volunteer and friend, Penelope Wamboldt.

Penelope was a cherished member of The Maurer Foundation family whose kindness, dedication, and generous spirit touched so many. We are deeply grateful for the years she shared with us and will forever remember her with love.

Our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and all who loved her. She will be deeply missed.

Thinking about dermal fillers for your chest? Here's something worth knowing first.

Some dermal fillers used in the décolletage (the area above and between the breasts) may make mammograms more difficult to read or even appear similar to suspicious findings on breast imaging. That doesn't mean you can't have fillers, but it does mean your healthcare team needs to know about them.

If you've had fillers in your chest area or are considering them:
- Stay up to date on your mammograms.
- Tell your mammography technologist and radiologist about any cosmetic procedures you've had.
- Talk with your provider about what's best for you, especially if you're at higher risk for breast cancer.

Being informed helps protect both your beauty goals and your breast health.
