A standard many have been waiting for is getting an update.

ASA/BSR S12.60-20XX/Part 1 — Acoustical Performance Criteria, Design Requirements, and Guidelines for Schools: Part 1, Permanent Schools — has been revised.

The new edition introduces updated approaches to classroom acoustics, including a new design-stage compliance option using average room sound absorption coefficient, expanded guidance on C50, G, and STI, and updated provisions for learning spaces and background noise.

- ASA/BSR S3.21-20XX, Methods for Manual Pure-Tone Threshold Audiometry (for Revision)

- ASA/BSR S12.54-20XX / ISO 3744:2025, Acoustics—Determination of sound power levels and sound energy levels of noise sources using sound pressure: Engineering methods for an essentially free field over a reflecting plane (for Identical National Adoption)

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and The Acoustical Society of America (ASA) have opened a public review period for the proposed reaffirmation of the following standard and its amendment:

• ASA/BSR S12.55 / ISO 3745 (R20XX)
• ASA/BSR S12.55/Amd 1 / ISO 3745/Amd 1 (R20XX)

These documents address precision methods for measuring sound power and sound energy levels in anechoic and hemi-anechoic rooms.
