The Medford Sunrise Rotary Club first met in March of 2010, and was chartered on October 18, 2010 with 22 members. The club meets on Wednesday mornings at 7:15am at the Medport Diner on Route 70 in Medford, New Jersey. Meetings are a combination of congenial fellowship, planning and brainstorming service projects locally and worldwide, and interesting speakers - and of course breakfast! The club regularly participates in preparing meals for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House, collecting needed supplies and goodies for service people overseas, and raising money and sending volunteers overseas to aid in the Rotary-led fight to eliminate Polio worldwide. Medford Sunrise Rotary is responsible for planning and organizing the Annual Dickens Festival, a fun filled family event that transforms Historic Main Street in Medford each December. Medford Sunrise also produces and distributes the Medford Community Calendar, an invaluable resource for Medford residents and local businesses.

Today, 24 October, is World Polio Day. Medford Sunrise Rotary has been at the forefront of Rotary's campaign to eradicate polio worldwide and has even hosted volunteer teams to provide immunization in India. We are down from 350,000 new polio cases in 125 countries to fewer than 50 in 2 countries. But until this deadly childhood disease is eradicated everywhere, it is only a plane ride away from our own children. Please make a tax-deductible donation today so we can get the job done. Your donation will be DOUBLE MATCHED by the Gates Foundation, so a $100 becomes $300--enough to save 300 children's lives.

See the joy in the faces of those who participate in Meals of Hope food packing events. Medford Sunrise Rotary will be doing one in December which will bring 11,111 meals for the South Jersey Food Bank to distribute to those in need within Burlington County! Talk about making you feel good and honored to be part of a group like this.!

We all think of "Rotary" as those nice folks who live around the corner and do nice volunteer work in the community. That's true.
