Minuteman Disaster Response Before disaster strikes, our meteorologists monitor storms across the nation and prepare our teams for deployment.

Minuteman Disaster Response exists to bring hope in the immediate aftermath of disasters by deploying self-sufficient volunteer teams that are trained, equipped, and ready to serve at no cost to those who need it most. Minuteman Disaster Response exists to bring hope in the immediate aftermath of disasters by deploying self-sufficient volunteer teams who are equipped, trained, and ready to serve at no cost to those who need it most. Tree and Vegetative Debris Removal: Our trained chainsaw teams and compact track loader operators work safely and efficiently to clear access points, remove dangerous limbs, and open up properties and roads for homeowners, first responders, and municipalities. This critical step reduces further risk and allows recovery efforts to move forward. Mucking and Gutting: Our teams carefully enter flood-damaged homes to begin the process of removing contaminated mud, debris, and materials. Using protective equipment and specialized tools, they tear out waterlogged drywall, insulation, and flooring layer by layer, working methodically to expose the structural frame. This process not only eliminates health hazards like mold but also ensures the home is properly prepared for drying, sanitization, and eventual repair. We welcome all capable and willing men and women over the age of 18 to join our team.

After a disaster, communities often have a limited window for debris collection. If homeowners can't get fallen trees and storm debris to the curb before collection ends, they may face thousands of dollars in removal costs.

That's where Minuteman Disaster Response makes a difference.

Our trained volunteers and specialized equipment help homeowners clear debris and get it to the curb while collection services are still available.

For families who have already lost so much, hope can begin with one less burden to carry.

Beaumont, TX
In September 2019, Tropical Storm Imelda stalled over Southeast Texas, producing more than 43 inches of rain in some areas and causing widespread flooding.

MDR deployed to Beaumont and, for the first time, established a fully self-sufficient basecamp to support relief operations. The team could house volunteers and provide the equipment, power and other resources needed to operate without drawing on the community already impacted by the disaster.

The deployment marked an important step in building the self-sufficient response model MDR continues to use today.

Sand Springs, OK
In May 2019, historic flooding devastated communities across northeast Oklahoma. In Sand Springs, some homes sat under as much as seven feet of water for days.

For Deployment #17, MDR volunteers spent three weeks helping homeowners muck flooded homes and begin the cleanup process.

Coming on the heels of the Alto deployment, the scale of debris in these two responses reinforced the need for heavy equipment to support cleanup operations, helping shape the next stage of MDR response capabilities.

MDR served for 19 days, with volunteers mucking flooded homes, removing debris, coordinating volunteers and assessing damage.

The deployment also marked the first use the new Mobile Sleeping Unit, a converted 53-foot trailer with private bunks and lockers for 28 volunteers. The addition was another major step in building the self-sufficient response capability MDR continues to use today.

After finishing the Hurricane Harvey response in Refugio, MDR relocated its basecamp to Brazoria County, where historic flooding had damaged thousands of properties.

For Deployment #13, the work shifted from debris cleanup to mucking flooded homes. Volunteers removed water-damaged materials and helped prepare homes for rebuilding.
