💜 ABUSE AFFECTS MENTAL HEALTH 💜

The bruises we cannot see can hurt just as deeply.

Domestic violence is not always physical. Abuse can include emotional manipulation, threats, humiliation, financial control, stalking, isolation, intimidation, and living in a constant state of fear.

Over time, these experiences can take a serious toll on a survivor’s mental and emotional well-being. Survivors may struggle with anxiety, depression, fear, hopelessness, low self-esteem, difficulty trusting others, or feeling as though they have lost control over their own lives.

These invisible wounds matter.

When we talk about domestic violence, mental health must be part of the conversation. Supporting a survivor means recognizing not only their need for physical safety, but also their need for emotional safety, healing, dignity, and hope.

💜 Listen without judgment.
💜 Believe survivors.
💜 Connect them with resources.
💜 Remind them that healing is possible.
💜 Help them rediscover their voice, strength, and sense of control.

Supporting emotional safety is supporting survivor safety.

There is life beyond abuse. There is hope beyond fear. And no survivor should have to walk the road toward healing alone.

💜 LEE ESTO ANTES DE DECIRTE A TI MISMA: “PERO NUNCA ME HA GOLPEADO.”

No todo el abuso deja moretones.

A veces, las heridas son invisibles.

Puede sonar así:

“Si me amaras, tú…”

No estás exagerando.
No te lo estás imaginando.
No estás sola.

💜 READ THIS BEFORE YOU TELL YOURSELF, “BUT THEY NEVER HIT ME.”Not all abuse leaves bruises.Sometimes the wounds are invi...

💜 READ THIS BEFORE YOU TELL YOURSELF, “BUT THEY NEVER HIT ME.”

Not all abuse leaves bruises.

Sometimes the wounds are invisible.

It can sound like:

“If you loved me, you would…”
“You don’t need your friends anymore.”
“I control the money because I’m the one who provides.”
“You’re my partner, so you owe me sex.”
“I’m only checking your phone because I care about you.”
“God wouldn’t want you to leave me.”
“Nobody will ever love you like I do.”

That isn’t necessarily love.

It can be power and control disguised as love, concern, protection, or even faith.

Abuse can be emotional.
It can be financial.
It can be sexual.
It can be psychological.
It can be social.
It can be spiritual.

And sometimes, it follows a cycle:

🔄 CALM
⬇️
TENSION BUILDS
⬇️
INCIDENT
⬇️
APOLOGIES • PROMISES • LOVE-BOMBING
⬇️
CALM AGAIN

The flowers.
The tears.
The promises.
The “I’ll change.”
The intense affection.

They can make you question what just happened and hope that this time will be different.

But if the pattern keeps repeating, the apologies aren’t necessarily evidence of change.

Real change requires accountability, consistent behavior, and an end to the pattern of power and control.

💜 You do not have to wait until someone hits you to take abuse seriously.

You do not have to prove that it is “bad enough.”

You do not have to figure it out alone.

Advocates, domestic violence organizations can help you understand what is happening, safety plan, explore your options, and connect you with resources—including legal support.

If you recognize yourself in this post, please know:

You are not overreacting.
You are not imagining it.
You are not alone.

And most importantly—

💜 YOU DESERVE A RELATIONSHIP WHERE LOVE FEELS SAFE, NOT CONTROLLED.

Have you ever noticed how control can hide behind the words “concern” or “love”?

💜 BREAK THE SILENCE 💜
Domestic Violence and Su***de: We Need to Talk About the Connection.

Domestic violence impacts far more than physical safety. Living under constant fear, intimidation, isolation, humiliation, threats, and control can take a devastating toll on a survivor’s emotional and mental well-being.

For some survivors, prolonged trauma can lead to depression, feelings of hopelessness, and thoughts of su***de.

We cannot prevent what we are unwilling to talk about.

Breaking the silence means creating space for honest conversations. It means learning to recognize the warning signs, believing survivors, connecting people to meaningful resources, and reminding those who are struggling that help and hope are still possible.

💜 Your story does not have to end with abuse.
💜 There is another chapter.
💜 There is life beyond violence.
💜 There is hope—but hope requires action.

If someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, emotional abuse, or suicidal thoughts, reach out. Listen without judgment. Help connect them to support. Sometimes one conversation can become the first step toward safety, healing, and a new beginning.

BREAK THE SILENCE. START THE CONVERSATION. SAVE A LIFE.

September is National Su***de Prevention Month 💜

This month, we shine a light on a topic that is too often left in the shadows—su***de.

Su***de does not only affect the person who dies. It leaves lasting pain in the hearts of family, friends, children, and entire communities long after the loss of a loved one. On average, one person dies by su***de every 16.2 minutes, and two-thirds of those who die by su***de suffer from depression.

At Angels of Love, we also recognize the important connection between su***de and domestic violence.

Many survivors of domestic violence experience fear, trauma, isolation, anxiety, depression, and hopelessness. Some may feel trapped with no way out. Others may be emotionally and mentally worn down by abuse to the point of feeling overwhelmed. In some situations, abusers may even use threats of su***de as a form of control and manipulation, placing even more emotional burden on victims and their loved ones.

This is why we must talk about both mental health and domestic violence together.

Awareness saves lives.
Support saves lives.
Listening saves lives.
Intervention saves lives.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please know:
You are not alone.
Your life matters.
There is hope, help, and healing available.

Let us work together to break the silence, support survivors, and prevent tragedy before it happens.

💜 If you are in crisis, call or text 988 for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.
💜 If you are experiencing domestic violence, reach out for help and support. Safe help is available.
