THE OCTOBER AWARENESS MUST LEAD TO ACTION IN NOVEMBER

💜 Awareness is powerful—but awareness alone is not enough.

We must turn awareness into education.

Education into prevention.

Concern into support.

Conversation into action.

Learn the warning signs.

Teach healthy relationships.

Support organizations serving survivors.

Volunteer.

Share resources.

Advocate for safer communities.

Speak up when abuse is normalized.

Become part of the solution.

Every action—large or small—can contribute to a community where survivors are supported and violence is no longer accepted.

Awareness must lead to action.

FILLING HEARTS WITH HOPE, ONE BASKET AT A TIME! ❤️

This Thanksgiving season, Angels of Love invites our Rio Grande Valley community to come together and make a difference in the lives of survivors of domestic violence and their families.

🧡 Our 2026 Canastas de Corazón – Operation Gratitude Thanksgiving Food Drive is dedicated to collecting food donations to provide Thanksgiving baskets filled with love, kindness, and hope to families who are rebuilding their lives after experiencing domestic violence.

For many survivors, the holidays can be especially challenging. Together, we can help bring comfort, dignity, and the joy of a Thanksgiving meal to families who need it most.

Awareness creates understanding. But ACTION creates CHANGE!

As we transition from October's National Domestic Violence Awareness Month into November, Angels of Love is reminding our community that our commitment to ending violence does not end when the awareness month is over.

For survivors of domestic violence, stalking, human trafficking, and sexual assault, the journey toward safety, healing, and freedom continues every single day.

🍂 This November, Angels of Love is turning AWARENESS INTO ACTION!

As we enter this season of Thanksgiving and gratitude, we invite the Rio Grande Valley community to join us in making a meaningful difference through five powerful commitments:

💛 GRATITUDE – Recognizing the strength and courage of survivors and expressing appreciation for those who stand beside them.

❤️ GIVING – Turning compassion into action by providing essential resources, encouragement, and support to survivors and their families.

🦋 SURVIVOR EMPOWERMENT – Helping individuals reclaim their voices, rebuild their confidence, restore their independence, and embrace a future free from violence.

📚 COMMUNITY EDUCATION – Raising awareness about the warning signs of domestic violence, stalking, trafficking, and sexual assault while equipping our community with knowledge that can save lives.

💜 PREVENTION OF VIOLENCE – Inspiring individuals, families, schools, businesses, and community leaders to take an active role in creating safer communities.

OCTOBER ENDS. OUR COMMITMENT DOES NOT.

💜 As Domestic Violence Awareness Month comes to a close, our commitment continues.

Tomorrow, survivors will still need support.

Families will still need resources.

Young people will still need education about healthy relationships.

Professionals will still need training.

Communities will still need collaboration.

And voices will still be needed to challenge violence, support survivors, and inspire hope.

Let it be the beginning of a deeper commitment to creating homes, relationships, and communities where everyone can live with safety, dignity, respect, and freedom from violence.

BE THE SAFE PERSON THEY CAN CALL

💜 If someone you care about is experiencing abuse, you may wonder what you can do.

Start by listening.
Believe them.
Avoid blaming or criticizing.
Do not pressure them into making decisions before they are ready.
Ask what they need.
Offer practical help when appropriate.
Share resources.
Respect their boundaries.
And perhaps most importantly—stay connected.

You may not be able to solve everything, but you can be a safe person who reminds them that they are not alone.

Sometimes support begins with simply saying:
“I am here when you need me.”
