🚨 McAllen Crime Stoppers Alert 🚨

Sharing on behalf of the Office of the Governor Greg Abbott: Governor Greg Abbott announced a reward of up to $30,000 for information leading to the arrest of Reynaldo Mata-Rios, wanted for the murder of Eddy Betancourt, who was found deceased on December 27, 2025. An arrest warrant was issued by the McAllen Police Department on December 28, 2025.

The Texas Department of Public Safety has added Mata-Rios to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives List.

Suspect: Reynaldo Mata-Rios, 60, Hispanic male, approx. 6’0”, 195 lbs, brown hair and eyes. Last seen crossing the U.S.–Mexico border in a red truck on December 28, 2025. ⚠️ Considered armed and dangerous.

Thanksgiving Eve brought plenty of smiles in McAllen. 💙

The rain didn’t stop us from hosting our annual Thanksgiving meal giveaway in partnership with the City of McAllen TX Government-McAllen Police Department — a tradition made possible thanks to the incredible generosity of H-E-B and our dedicated sponsors. Local families were truly grateful.

Later, officers added an extra surprise by offering turkeys instead of tickets during traffic stops — spreading kindness one driver at a time.
