The McAlester Parks & Recreation page is on a mission to reach 4,000 followers before the June 23 ribbon cutting celebrating the completion of the Mullen Park improvement project and the “Shade and Story: Transforming Mullen Park” enhancements.
This approximately $650,000 project helped transform Mullen Park into a more welcoming, family-friendly community space through:
💦 Splash pad improvements
🏡 Pavilion upgrades
🚻 Restroom improvements
🌳 Expanded shade areas
🌱 50 Oklahoma native trees
💧 Irrigation improvements
📚 Story Walk features
🤝 Volunteer and community partnerships
A huge thank you goes to the McAlester Community Tree Board for helping champion this project from the beginning, along with the Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department, Land and Water Conservation Fund program, Oklahoma Forestry Services, the U.S. Forest Service, the McAlester Public Library, donor partners, volunteers, community partners, and McAlester Parks & Recreation crews.
From pools and splash pads to parks, playgrounds, and summer programs — this page helps keep McAlester connected all summer long.
