A child can have food in the cupboard, clothes on their back and a roof over their head - and still be deeply neglected.

Some children grow up with no comfort when they are upset. No encouragement when they try. No attention when they need connection. No praise. No reassurance. No one truly noticing them.

The wounds from emotional neglect are often invisible. They do not leave bruises, but they can shape a child's self-worth, relationships, mental health and future for years to come.

Every child needs more than survival. They need to feel safe, valued, loved, heard and important.

Sometimes the most damaging neglect is the kind nobody sees.

Snack Drive Time! 🎉

At Ryan’s House, we make sure every child who walks through our doors feels safe, supported, and cared for, and sometimes that starts with something as simple as a snack.

We also provide snacks to children who are stuck waiting at the DHS office, giving them a little comfort during a stressful time.

Our shelves are running low, and with grocery prices rising, your support matters more than ever. Want to help? Grab a few snacks, donate drinks, or check out our Amazon Wish List for ideas!

💻 Creating Safe Digital Spaces for Children 💙

In today’s digital world, keeping children safe online is more important than ever. According to A Courageous Voice, there are hundreds of thousands of predators online daily—making prevention and education critical for every family.

Here are 5 key ways to create safer digital spaces for children:

🔹 Use Parental Controls
Set up filters, monitor activity, and limit screen time to help protect children from inappropriate content and online risks.

🔹 Foster Open Communication
Create an environment where children feel safe talking about their online experiences. Open conversations help them recognize red flags and seek help when needed.

🔹 Keep Devices in Shared Spaces
Using devices in common areas like the living room allows for natural supervision and reduces the risk of unsafe interactions.

🔹 Know Your Child’s Online Friends
Encourage children to only connect with people they know in real life and talk openly about the risks of interacting with strangers online.

🔹 Teach Digital Footprints
Help children understand that what they post online can last forever. Teaching them to think before they share builds safer online habits.

Creating safe digital spaces isn’t about fear—it’s about awareness, connection, and prevention. When families stay engaged and informed, children are better equipped to navigate the online world safely.
