Nimble Thimbles Quilt Guild Nimble Thimbles is an active guild that contributes much to our community. We meet the 2nd Monday of each month at Messiah Lutheran Church in Mauldin, SC.

An organization meeting was held to form the guild in the back room of Mary Isbell's shop, "Lil's Quilts and Crafts" in Mauldin, South Carolina in June 1988. The guild was formed to promote the love of quilting. In September of 1988, the group became officially known as the Nimble Thimbles Quilt Guild and Anna Hoover was the first president. The guild flourished and soon outgrew the badck room of Lil's. In January of 1989 the guild began meeting at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church on Laurens Road in Mauldin. It wasn't long until the membership grew to the point of needing another meeting place and in 1991, moved to the present location at Messiah Lutheran Church in Mauldin.

Save the Date! Tuesday, November 10, 2026 at The Fountain Inn Activities Center at 11:00 AM. Quilts of Valor, made by members of Nimble Thimbles Quilt Guild, will be awarded to six veterans at the Veteran's Day program.

🧵✨ What exactly IS a low volume fabric—and how do you know if it will work in your quilt?

Low volume fabrics are usually white, cream, or neutral prints that still “read” as a neutral from a distance. Think tiny dots, grids, text prints, and subtle designs. But choosing the right ones—and pairing them with colorful fabrics—can make a huge difference in your finished quilt!

I’m sharing my tips for choosing low volume fabrics, mixing prints, identifying fabrics that “read” as one color, and creating a scrappy quilt that still feels cohesive. One of my favorite tips? Don’t use too many color families in one quilt!
