Suburban Aero Club of Chicago SAC is the oldest model aircraft flying club in the south of the Chicago metro area. Our flying sites are located in Country Club Hills and Oak Forest.

We promote a fun and safe flying environment. SAC is an AMA Gold Leader Club. www.suburbanaeroclub.com SAC is also a long time AMA Gold member club and the 1st recipient of the “AMA Club of the Month” award. We also maintain great relationships with Forest Preserves of Cook County and SAC is a “Model Citizen” in the community! Suburban Aero Club of Chicago (SAC) was founded in 1962 and is one of

the oldest model aircraft clubs in the nation. We are an AMA Gold Leader Club, a distinction achieved by only 5% of AMA chartered clubs. The first AMA Club of the Month August 2020! We build and fly model aircraft of all types: member interests include airplanes, seaplanes, gliders, helicopters and drones. We have an instructional program to help new members get started in the hobby, and we run a number of events throughout the year. Our regular flying site is off S Cicero Ave, Matteson, IL at the Cook County Forest Preserve Tinley Creek model airplane field. We fly float planes at Midlothian Reservoir (167th and Cicero) in Oak Forest. SAC now has our FRIA (FAA Recognized Identification Areas) status which will allow our members to fly at both of our locations / field without having to install any additional Remote ID equipment.

SAC CON 3 RESULTS on 2026-06-21
The third round of the SAC CON results ended with John Kallend taking the win over Greg Stevens by 10 points. It all came down to the final round and the last spot landing where Greg could have taken the lead but instead missed the 40-point area by a couple of feet and ended up scoring 10 points which put him into second place. Four pilots took to the air on a cloudy Father’s Day Sunday with calm winds. There were no incidents as everyone made it through all three rounds of bomb drop, cups, and spot landings unscathed. The July SAC CON is scheduled for the 19th; all are welcome even if you haven’t competed in any previous contests.
