Yesterday evening members of Group 1 responded to the town of North Stonington for a working structure fire. Engine 1‘s crew conducted a secondary search of the second floor and assisted with overhaul operations before being released.

Members of Group 1 happened to be driving by while returning from a special detail and were able to assist our mutual aid partners with this incident today. Great team work by all agencies involved.

Group 3 responded Automatic aid tonight to Ledyard for a MVA. Upon arrival found a Tesla 3 vs telephone pole with heavy front end damage. Engine 1 crew checked on the lone occupant for injuries. A protection line was pulled by Engine drive and crews monitored the temp of the battery pack. Two sets of spreaders with TL-9 were used to raise the vehicle to check the temp of the battery pack. Vehicle was removed by tow company and units released.

At 1715 this evening Engine 1 responded automatic aid to Ledyard for a MVA. Upon arrival of Engine 1 found a Tesla 3 vs pole with occupants outs of the vehicle.

Vacationing Connecticut Firefighters Alert Sleeping Family of Scarborough House Fire

Scarborough, Me - On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 12:25 pm, the Scarborough Communications Center began receiving multiple 911 calls reporting that a house was on fire at 4 Sea Meadows Lane with possibly people trapped. Sea Meadows Lane is located in Pine Point off of East Grand Avenue.

Two vacationing Connecticut firefighters, passing Sea Meadows Lane on their way to Old Orchard Beach, observed smoke coming from the house. They immediately stopped to investigate and discovered fire traveling up the rear of the house extending to the roof line. Both firefighters made entry into the home and found two adults sleeping on the first floor. They were able to wake them up and es**rt them safely from the building. Once the occupants were outside, the vacationing firefighters used a fire extinguisher and garden hose to attempt to keep the fire from spreading further until responding firefighters arrived.

Old Orchard Beach Fire Department Car 2 (Deputy Chief McDonald) arrived on scene at 12:31 p.m. followed by Scarborough Ladder 1 (Dunstan Station) at 12:34 p.m and confirmed that the fire was located at the back of the house extending inside the 2 ½ story home in the area of the attached garage. A second alarm was struck to bring in additional resources to assist Scarborough Firefighters.

Firefighters began an aggressive attack on the exterior fire located at the back of the house as well as opening up walls and ceilings on the inside of the home to stop the fire from spreading further. Crews performed ventilation and overhaul of the affected areas to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and the fire was placed under control shortly after 1 p.m.

There were no civilian injuries but one responding firefighter was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and they have been released.

Scarborough firefighters were assisted on scene by Old Orchard Beach, Biddeford, S**o, Portland, South Portland Fire Departments as well as the Scarborough Police Department. Biddeford. Westbrook and Gorham Fire Departments responded into Scarborough to cover empty firehouses.

East Grand Avenue was closed during this incident but was reopened once the fire apparatus began clearing the scene.

The Scarborough Fire Department would like to thank the two Connecticut firefighters for their assistance at this afternoon’s fire. Although the house suffered moderate fire damage, the two occupants escaped uninjured because of the quick actions of these two vacationing firefighters.

The cause of the fire was investigated by the Scarborough Fire Department and the State Fire Marshals Office with assistance from the Scarborough Code Enforcement Office.

The cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental.

Group 2 responded automatic aid along with Ledyard, Gales Ferry and North Stonington for a car fire at the Rt214 and Foxwoods Blvd intersection. This is a unique intersection as it falls both in the Town of Ledyard and North Stonington. Engine 1 arrived and deployed a handline for fire attack while the tower crew provided manpower for overhaul. We are proud to work with our mutual aid partners.
