Meet our May 🌟Spotlight Volunteer🌟, Ryan Hensley! Ryan has been a volunteer for over 2 years and has completed many service requests. He completes home maintenance tasks like moving patio furniture, repairing doors and other outdoor equipment, putting away Christmas decor, boxes and heavy totes, and yardwork. Ryan works full time as a quality manager for a pharmaceutical company and volunteers to coach or help where needed for his daughters’ sporting events and with other community organizations. Ryan said of volunteering, “The example my grandparents set of compassion, hard work, and helping your neighbor lives on in me. Volunteering is my way of honoring them and passing that same spirit on to others.”

THANK YOU, 🌟Ryan, for embodying the values of your grandparents to help our members and the community!

It's Volunteer Appreciation Day! 🤩🥳🤩🥳

Our volunteers are the heart and soul of Neighbor to Neighbor, completing almost 1,800 service requests last year and over 11,000 service requests since our launch in 2016. Our volunteers do more than deliver groceries, transport to appointments, vacuum floors, and move heavy boxes; they provide warm smiles and friendly conversations that make our members feel so valued and loved.

THANK YOU, volunteers, for everything you do for our members! We appreciate you!

Another wonderful Tuesdays Together at Old Stone Haus Tavern, Broadway yesterday!

Do you know studies have shown that social isolation is harmful to one’s health and leads to or worsens other chronic disease states? Our Tuesdays Together give members an opportunity to get out into the community to enjoy companionship and a good lunch 🤩

Tomorrow marks the TWO YEAR anniversary of the launch of the Mary-Go-Round senior shuttle!

🚌That's TWO YEARS of getting older adults to places they need to go in the community.
🚌That's TWO YEARS of older adults connecting with each other and forming friendships on the shuttle.
🚌That's TWO YEARS of aging adults having independence and not needing to rely on others for a ride.
🚌That's TWO YEARS of isolated adults having a connection to the community.

Yesterday, 12 riders were able to hop on the Mary-Go-Round for a ride to shop for groceries and necessities and visit the bank. They saw the city in bloom. They chatted with their neighbors and friends. They are the reason the Mary-Go-Round launched two years ago and operates every Tuesday and Thursday!

We are so thankful for our partnership with Age Friendly Columbus and Franklin County for helping us create the vision of a circulating shuttle connecting seniors to their community and A Way Out Employment LLC for bringing that vision to life.

We are kicking off Volunteer Appreciation Month by recognizing our 🌟Spotlight Volunteer🌟, Tom Brower, who has been with N2N since the beginning in 2016! Meet Tom Brower! Tom has completed many service requests in these 9.5 years. He loves completing handyman requests for members as being handy is something he watched and learned from his dad: services like yardwork, washing windows, moving furniture, and help with technology requests. Tom retired from Honda and works part-time at McAuliffe’s Ace Hardware in addition to staying busy with his family. When asked about volunteering, Tom said, “Volunteering gives me the satisfaction of being able to help someone who needs it, especially people in the community who I know! This is a great program for our community and a great way to give back.”

THANK YOU, 🌟Tom, for using your given gifts to help our members and the community!
