Gender Road Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Seeks Full-Time Associate Pastor

Gender Road Christian Church of Canal Wi******er, Ohio is located 25 minutes from downtown Columbus and within 10-15 minutes of Pickerington and Lancaster. The area has experienced the growth of suburban sprawl from what started in 1999 as a rural & agricultural community. The church feels called to be visible and active within Canal Wi******er and increasingly so within Pickerington, Groveport and Carroll as they are willing to support the needs of both urban and rural communities. The congregation’s Senior Pastor, Rev. John Romig, has been minister for fifteen years.

The goals of the congregation include increased community engagement, improve the congregational culture of serving, become more financially independent by increasing stewardship, and experiencing a manageable congregational growth. Find out more about the congregation at https://genderroadcc.com/

Associate Pastor candidates will excel in communication, education and leadership development, spiritual development, and worship skills and experience. Candidates should have a Master of Divinity or equivalent degree for ordination or Undergraduate with appropriate license with standing by applicable Regional Authority and can be credentialed in either the Disciples of Christ or United Church of Christ traditions.

A full congregational profile is available on the Disciples Home Missions Search & Call website (https://dhm.suran.com/minister/login). All interested candidates for this position are asked to contact the Rev. Allen V. Harris, Regional Minister for the Christian Church in Ohio, by email at: [email protected]

This week at Camp Christian we are hosting the Transitional Ministry Training. Clergy from both the United Church of Christ and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) are gathered to learn about helpful and necessary perspectives, skills, and resources to help guide congregations through the interim period. But this training is also needed for any congregation as almost all institutions are in a constant time of transformation, or perhaps should be.

Our Regional Minister, Rev. Allen Harris, offered two presentations yesterday morning as well as the morning devotion. There are several gifted leaders presenting, but the entire event was organized and is being led by the Rev. Vicki McGaw.

Earlier this week, our Regional Minister, Rev. Allen Harris, had the joy and privilege of having lunch with the Rev. Michael Howard, new Senior Pastor of Federated Church in Chagrin Falls. Part of their conversation was directly related to the name of Reverend Howard‘s church, since the origins of this congregation included the Christian Church (Disciples Of Christ) as well as the United Church of Christ. both of us, hope to reconnect the congregation to both sides of its Federated history!

The 2026 Regional Assembly of the Christian Church in Ohio was held at Camp Christian on October 10.

This third set of photographs are of the some of the workshops (many others happened but were not photographed), tours of the new pool, pool house, and picnic pavilion, the “If Not Now When? If Not You Who?“ Campaign celebration, and closing worship. The Rev. Brian Shields, Senior Pastor at Community Christian Church of North Canton, offered the final meditation on Philippians 4:9 and musician Scott Mackall (not pictured) led us in song and meditation. There are a few pictures of the disaster response, buckets and hygiene kits that were gathered from congregations across Ohio. Thank You! There are also a few other fun memories of the day captured.

And a final word of thanksgiving to the Rev. Vanessa Bostick for many of the photos shared here.

This second set of photographs are of the opening worship service where Pastor Brenda Sanford gave the message on our theme from Philippians 4:9 “Listening For God In A Noisy World.” There are also pictures from the business session where a constitutional amendment was passed to move us to a triennium schedule, the outgoing Regional Church Council was celebrated, including Brenda‘s leadership as vice moderator and moderator, and the new Regional Church Council was elected. Rev. David Long-Higgins, Conference Minister of the Heartland Conference United Church of Christ brought his greetings. There are also a few photographs from our lunch using our new outdoor tent at Camp Christian.

Again, a word of appreciation to the Rev. Vanessa Bostick for many of the photos shared here.

The 2026 Regional Assembly of the Christian Church in Ohio was held at Camp Christian on October 10. It was wonderfully well attended and the weather held out for us quite nicely.

This first set of photos show our registration and exhibit hall. We had many exhibitors from within the Regional Church as well as from the General Church. We deeply appreciate each and every vendor and exhibitor who came and helped network and resource are clergy and lay leaders to help make mission and ministry in Christ’s name, healthier, more vibrant, and more excellent.

The gathering on Friday afternoon and evening, October 9, of clergy and other friends and family members at Camp Christian was hosted by the Congregational Renewal Team of the Christian Church In Ohio. They shared in a Regional Renewal Café led by our Regional Pastor, Allen Harris, dinner together provided by Amanda Blaine, our Hospitality Manager, and a concert by Rev. Mark Harris.

Those who gathered seemed to enjoy themselves immensely, and it was agreed that we need more opportunities for our clergy and beloveds to gather to connect, network, and support one another. Thanks to Rev. Heather Schimmel and Rev. Michael Doerr for taking the lead on this wonderful event.

Thanks to Rev. Vanessa Bostick for several of these photographs!
