Hannah Emerson Dustin Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution This is the official public page of the Hannah Emerson Dustin Chapter of the NSDAR! Rausch.

The DAR is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization dedicated to historic preservation, education, and patriotism. The Hannah Emerson Dustin Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution was organized in Marysville, Ohio, May 27, 1922 by Helen B. The chapter was chartered on October 2, 1924, under Charter Number 1475. Since our chapter's first meeting, our membershi

p has boasted several members who represent many of the brave patriots who served during the American Revolutionary War.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded on October 11, 1890, during a time that was marked by a revival in patriotism and intense interest in the beginnings of the United States of America. Women felt the desire to express their patriotic feelings and were frustrated by their exclusion from men's organizations formed to perpetuate the memory of ancestors who fought to make this country free and independent. As a result, a group of pioneering women in the nation's capital formed their own organization and the Daughters of the American Revolution has carried the torch of patriotism ever since. The objectives laid forth in the first meeting of the DAR have remained the same in over 100 years of active service to the nation. Those objectives are: Historical - to perpetuate the memory and spirit of the men and women who achieved American Independence; Educational - to carry out the injunction of Washington in his farewell address to the American people, "to promote, as an object of primary importance, institutions for the general diffusion of knowledge, thus developing an enlightened public opinion…"; and Patriotic - to cherish, maintain, and extend the institutions of American freedom, to foster true patriotism and love of country, and to aid in securing for mankind all the blessings of liberty. Since its founding in 1890, DAR has admitted more than 975,000 members. Illuminating The Flag of the United States on Flag Day!

The history of the United States flag dates to the American Revolution. Today, the U.S. flag is a powerful national symbol of unity, freedom, and history. June 14 is celebrated as Flag Day in honor of its adoption.

In 1777, the first official flag, known as the Stars and Stripes, was adopted by the Continental Congress on June 14. It had 13 stars and 13 stripes representing the original colonies.

On June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress made it official: thirteen stars and thirteen stripes would represent our new nation.

Nearly 250 years later, the Stars and Stripes still fly as one of the most recognized symbols of freedom in the world. For DAR, the flag is more than a symbol. It is a living connection to the patriots who fought for the ideals it represents and a reminder of the values we carry forward every day.

Through flag ceremonies, educational programs, and community events, DAR chapters nationwide work to ensure that the history and meaning behind our flag is never forgotten. On Flag Day and every day, we are proud to honor it.
