Today we were surprised with a delivery of LMNT Electrolytes. We are honored to be nominated by one of our local community members to receive a donation like this. Packets and flavors are being split between both stations to help hydrate all of our firefighters, officers, and prevention bureau members.

Happy 4th of July from all of us here at MFD. While you’re busy mastering the grill, chilling the drinks, and practicing your best "oooohs" and "ahhhhs" for the fireworks, your local crew is on duty and keeping watch.

A quick reminder for the backyard pyrotechnicians out there:
1. Keep the hose handy: Always have a bucket of water or a hose nearby for fireworks.
2. Step back: Give fireworks plenty of room (and never try to re-light a "dud").
3. Watch the kids: Even sparklers get hot enough to melt gold, so keep a close eye on the little ones!

The Marysville Fire Department is incredibly proud to announce a special partnership with Africa Fire Mission, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting under-resourced fire departments across Africa and other developing countries. Our donation includes: 35 full sets of turnout gear, 17 pairs of structural gloves, 10 hoods, and 1 extra pair of fire pants. Africa Fire Mission was founded in 2012 after discovering that a city of 5 million people had only 2 fire engines. Africa Fire Mission works tirelessly to build sustainable public safety. They don’t just supply personal protective equipment and communication tools; they also provide vital community health education, fire safety training for schools, and in person instruction to empower local fire brigades. We are honored to support AFM’s mission to ensure that every firefighter, no matter where they are, has the quality gear they need to do their job and make it home safe.

The fire gear donated is expired under NFPA 1851 rules, but is still in good usable condition for countries that do not follow NFPA. We hope this equipment serves their next owners well. If you would like to check out this charity, please visit:
