Sometimes the signs that a child is struggling are quiet, not loud.

Watch for changes like:
- Withdrawing from friends or activities they used to enjoy
- Sudden changes in sleep or appetite
- Increased irritability or emotional outbursts
- Trouble focusing at school or a drop in grades
- Physical complaints like stomachaches or headaches with no clear cause
- Regression to earlier behaviors, like clinginess or bedwetting

Any one of these on its own does not necessarily mean something is wrong. But if you are noticing a pattern, or your gut is telling you something, it never hurts to start a conversation.

Recently, Plains Presbyterian Church and Crestview Community Church held an MHY Staff Appreciation dinner hosted by Cecilia Ottenweller of Rosie's on Mars. We were so grateful to gather as a staff to share a meal and fellowship with members of their congregations. Our staff shows up for youth and families every day, often in demanding and deeply personal work. This delicious dinner also fell on Boss's Day, so we celebrated our CEO, Samantha, with a small token of appreciation from her administrative team.

Thank you to Plains Presbyterian Church, Crestview Community Church and Rosie’s On Mars for hosting the MHY Staff Appreciation Dinner. We are proud to have community partners who care for the people who care for our kids.

Our friends at PennEnergy Resources stopped by to present MHY with the proceeds from their first charity golf outing. Since 2018, they have walked alongside MHY Family Services as donors and by helping bring joy to our children and families through our Holiday Gift Drive. They have been a true community champion, and we are so grateful for their generosity and support.

Today is Unity Day, an important part of National Bullying Prevention Month. Bullying can have a strong impact on the mental health of students and youth. We believe in building a world where every student belongs. Kindness, acceptance, and inclusion matter, and no child should ever experience bullying.
At MHY and Longmore Academy, that message lives at the heart of what we do every day. Every young person deserves to feel safe, supported, and seen.
