Sleep in Heavenly Peace - PA, Mars We are an organization of volunteers that build and deliver beds to children who do not have one. Our mission: NO KID SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR IN OUR TOWN!

Ed & I are embarking on a new mission. We are starting a chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that makes beds for kids who don't have beds to sleep in. Our good friend Dave Nock is joining us in this effort. Two weeks ago we went to Idaho for training and hopefully we will be making beds by January. The bed

s will be furnished with a mattress and all of the bedding ready to deliver to needy kids. SHP has made over 16,000 beds in the United States and Canada so far this year in spite of being shut down for covid. We are renting a warehouse to work out of and buying our equipment, tools and supplies for making the beds. Fundraising is solely our responsibility. If anyone can help out we would certainly appreciate it. The pictures are of when we were in Idaho. Each chapter puts a pin in the map showing the area they will serve. We went along on a delivery of bunk beds. The rest of the pictures are of Twin Falls. The "twin" falls are normally very beautiful but because of the drought we got to see the "twin" trickles.

Tomorrow, Friday and Saturday (October 23, 25 & 26) we will be making 100 beds with members of the International Rotary 33/34 at their Pittsburgh convention. The wood has been sanded & prepped by Pittsburgh Rotary members, our team and family and friends. The beds will be assembled in the Sheraton Hotel at Station Square. We are looking forward to this new challenge and are grateful to the Rotary for choosing us for this opportunity.

We had a very productive day of sanding with Rotarians. They were prepping wood for the beds they will be making in October at the Sheraton Station Square. What a great bunch of people!

Last week we delivered 19 beds to 11 families on the north side of Pittsburgh. Thanks Mike and Dave for the help. This week we will be delivering 5 more to Millvale and Etna. Lots more to come.

We will be sanding and building side rails and safety rails on Saturday August 19th! Something that SHP posted on Facebook went viral on July 25th and in two days we received applications for 84 beds! We generally get applications for 2 to 4 beds per week. We will be sanding and building again soon.

We had a great build yesterday and today with Concordia employees, some of our regulars and some new volunteers. We made 38 beds which is just 2 shy of our record! I was told that the reason for the number of beds is that the two headboard teams were competing. Thanks everyone who came out yesterday and today to volunteer. You rock!

The wonderful employees at Villa St. Joseph will be making beds with us on February 10th & 11th. We look forward to having these new volunteers help us to get more kids in their beds this winter.
