We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dolly Parton. Her belief that every child deserves access to books and the opportunity to develop a love of reading transformed the lives of countless children and families.

Madison County Smart Start is honored to help bring free books and the joy of reading to children in our local community. We will continue carrying forward her vision and remain committed to helping children build strong foundations for lifelong success. Her legacy will live on every time a child opens a book and discovers the joy of reading.

Julia Passik, from the Appalachian Design Center writes:
Thank you to everyone who helped spread the word about the Blannahassett Island Kids Playground Design event! It was a wonderful success, and it was truly inspiring to hear directly from the kids about what excites them most in a playground.
Several parents asked if there would also be an opportunity to share ideas for younger children. To help ensure the playground serves families of all ages, we've created a brief survey for families with children under the age of 6, or for parents of older children who can reflect on what was most important during those early years.
Please feel free to share the survey with anyone who may be interested: https://forms.gle/8C2pVVWswtGdFhCJA
The survey will remain open through Monday, August 17. See less
