Marion County 4-H Livestock Judging Team

Marion County 4-H Livestock Judging Team The is team is compiled of hard working and dedicated 4H individuals who are interesting in learning more about judging livestock.

The Marion County 4H Livestock Judging team attends various competitions in surrounding counties as well as the Ohio State Fair. Practices and meetings are held at various locations through the county depending on the species that will be the focus of the meeting. General meetings are located at the Isla Grande barn. A team is compiled of 4 members and divided depending on age:
Junior Team - Ages

8 -14
Senior Team - Ages 14 - 18 - Senior team will compete at more contest and may travel more. Our coaches are:

Levi Criswell

There are 4 livestock species that the team will judge at any given competition. Beef - Market and Breeding
Goats - Market and Breeding
Sheep - Market and Breeding
Swine - Market Breeding

The 4H kid will learn basic judging skills along in what makes a good market project. They will learn about Animal correctness, balance, what makes a finished market project and much more. Along with knowledge about the animals the kids will learn some great life skills that will help them in their chosen careers. Some of those skills will be decision making, communication, critical thinking and so much more. This is group is more than a team it has become a family. We are gearing up to host the OHPigs swine judging contest at the Marion Co Fairgrounds in 2 weeks. We strive to put together a quality contest with cool prizes for the youth. That being said, we are in need of sponsors to help with the cost of the prizes for the top 5 in all 5 divisions (peewee, novice, junior, intermediate & senior). Silent auction items are set for the Judging team fundraiser! We are also raffling off the oil pastel artwork. The tickets for the raffle are $5 or 5 for $20.

All items will close after the Saturday Night Special goat sale at IGF Pavilion tonight. Payment can be made via cash, check or venmo.

This unbelievable piece of pastel art is a raffle item for the Marion County Livestock Judging team's fundraiser! Local artist, Carrie Heimlich, donated this 8x10, framed pastel artwork that's valued at $225. We so appreciate her generosity and support!

Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. You can secure your tickets by being at the Saturday Night Special goat sale tomorrow night at 2730 Harding Hwy West, Marion, OH, OR you can venmo me and I'll add your tickets to the drawing. All tickets must be purchased by 8 pm tomorrow night. The drawing will take place immediately following the sale.

If you have the winning ticket and you are not there, we can hold it for pick up, arrange a mtg spot, or ship it (but you will pay the shipping costs).

All proceeds from this item (and the live silent auction items available at the sale tomorrow), benefit the 4H livestock judging team. Funds are used for entry fees for contests, travel expenses and learning materials. Currently we have 20 members!
