The Jackson County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) held a graduation ceremony for the 2026 Citizens Academy at their meeting on October 27, 2026. Three of our GFWC Marianna Woman's Club members participated in the seven-class program which involved touring the various County facilities and engage with County leaders. They learned more about the services and operations that help drive our community.

Citizens Academy graduates are equipped with a greater understanding of County government and are encouraged to help lead the way. The program provided a firsthand look at how local government functions and offers an inside look which cultivates informed, engaged community leaders who can help increase public awareness, promote transparency, and strengthens connections between residents and government.

During the graduation, Mary Smith (coordinator of the program) delivered remarks celebrating the participants’ accomplishments. Thank you BOCC for providing an invaluable program!

Congratulations to our Citizens’ Academy graduates!
Judy Stanton, Jennie Ann Hunt Dean, Annie Dowd.

🎄✨ GFWC Marianna Woman's Club kicked off the holiday season with some of our members attending the 30th Annual Holiday Decorating Showcase, a beloved tradition beautifully presented by business owner & our friend, Kirby Holt, of Blossom’s in Chipley!
This year’s showcase featured stunning Christmas trees, mantelpieces, wreaths, centerpieces, and so much more! The morning was made even more special by the poetic reading & musicals written by Brad Holt, “Granny Sweater” , “Country Living” & “Christmas Angel” 🎶❤️

We love supporting our sister club, GFWC Chipley Woman's Club - Florida, who partners with Blossom’s and celebrating the magic, joy, and beauty of the holiday season together.
