Hello all! This is not Scout related but it is right here in Marianna and a very important cause. If you are able to help at all, it would be greatly appreciated by this firefighter/paramedic and his family.

Our very own Estelle Whiddon was selected as the Silver Beaver Award Recipient. The Silver Beaver is the highest award that a council can bestow upon an adult volunteer to recognize that volunteers commitment and outstanding service to youth in our council. CONGRATULATIONS Estelle on this monumental achievement! We are so proud for you! And thank you for all you have done and will continue to do for Scouting and the youth of the Alabama-Florida council!

On our last campout we went to a Council-Wide Spring Camporee. The Camporee was a Klondike and the boys had to create a sled for the event to haul their gear on from station to station. This event was also a skills competition. The boys did FANTASTIC at this event and we couldn’t be more proud of them. This was a 10 station event that encompassed the west side of camp. The boys got 1st place in 4 of the events, 2nd in another and won 1st place overall. Here are some photos of the build itself and the finished sled. More photos from the event itself to come. WAY TO GO BOYS!!!
